Words cannot even describe this properly, so I'll just paste it below.
Michael D. Brown is the first Under Secretary for Emergency Preparedness and Response since FEMA became part of the new Department of Homeland Security.
Mr. Brown was born and grew up in Guymon, Oklahoma, with his parents and a younger brother and sister. He also had a basset hound named Roosevelt and a dachshund named Eisenhower. He remembers that there were many tornadoes when he was a boy. He even remembers having to go to his grandparent's storm shelter during one tornado! He liked to camp, hike and fish and enjoyed debate, speech and history classes in school.
Mr. Brown always wanted to be a lawyer and did! He went to Oklahoma City University's School of Law after earning his college degree. He practiced law in Colorado and Oklahoma. He joined FEMA as the General Counsel (top lawyer) in 2001 and later became FEMA's Deputy Director. In 2003, he became Under Secretary after the new Department of Homeland Security was formed. Mr. Brown coordinates disaster relief for the federal government. He also oversees training for firefighters and emergency managers and a flood insurance program - and many other things! His office is in Washington D.C.
Rumor has it that the description was written by George W. Bush.
