We all heard the stories how police officers and firefighters were either turned away or sent to far-away training in the days immediately after Hurricane Katrina.
One would hope that they would have improved upon this.
However, this story from the Arizona Republic says otherwise. Six firefighters from Tempe, Arizona have been sitting in Atlanta and Orlando, unable to do anything because they have not received an assignment and because of bureaucratic red tape.
We're all a little disappointed, very disappointed in some cases," Scott Williams said. "We didn't come here for a vacation but that's what it has become."
Surely there must be something these guys can do out there. There are still reports that outside of New Orleans, some of the parishes have received no aid. Why not send the Tempe firefighters (and the 98 other firefighters who are at the same location)?
