Apparently, Bush did not realize the severity of the situation until Thursday, several days after the hurricane hit. This despite widespread media coverage. How can this man be lead the country, yet not receive this sort of information. If I ever became president, I would watch the news all the time and expect to be briefed on every major event that happened in the country, as well as the rest of the world.
A DVD needed to be made for him to catch up on the news. How does this happen? Why is our president clueless when it comes to what is happening in this country?
Does Bush just not care? Quite possibly. He has often bragged about how he doesn't read newspapers. It could just be that he isn't intelligent enough to comprehend the news in the first place.
I also believe that he is far too insulated from the news by others around him. For whatever reason, the powers that be have determined that he should not be "clued in".
Our country doesn't need the president to be sheltered. Nor do we need the president to not be told bad news. Our country needs a leader, someone who wants to know what is going on and wants to do everything he (or she) can to deal with the bad news in a positive way.
