Summary: A Solitary Voice in the Wilderness with a Message that must be heard
Comment: This short beautifully and passionately written book is not exactly what I thought it would be: just another shrill "Fox News" anti-terrorism commercial. It is a very different animal, indeed. And as the cliché goes, this author "has been there, done that, bought the tee shirt, and paid for it in her own blood." She thus speaks from deep and harrowing personal experience. Her book is a clarion call for America and the rest of the West to wake up, watch our backs, and our backdoors.
Seen in this larger context, her message is nothing less than a warning of existential proportions.
For a change too, it is a fresh, ideologically untainted warning that is uncharacteristically and eminently believable. It is one that clarifies the incessant but garbled messages coming from our incompetent and unctuous politicians, both here and in Israel. Since they have lied to us so blatantly, and so often, they can no longer get through to many of us because we trust nothing they say even when they warn us of real dangers. For GW Bush, Dick Cheney, and Benjamin Netanyahu, I click the mute button before they speak -- the same as I do for advertisements. In my mind at least, these politicians and those like them, have cancelled their right to be heard. Yet despite them, there is a threat out there, and no matter where on the ideological and religious spectrum we may sit, and no matter how unbelievable the messenger is, radical Islamic Jihadism, and the threat it represents, is real.
There is a hate-filled mad dog on the prowl. He is in the lifeboat with us, and if we don't watch him, he will bite our dicks, and then eat them for breakfast as he did Lebanon's. Even though our demagogic politicians may be a joke, radical Islamic Jihadism is no joke. Nor, are their nefarious aims to be casually dismissed as normal irrelevant religious nonsense. As Ms. Gabriel's elegant story demonstrates, radical Islamic Jihadism is indeed the transcendent challenge of our times. Their hate-filled strategy is single-minded, long-term, parasitic, and based on patience - on waiting out the infidels, and then on weakening "him" from the inside out, and finally reinstating the Fourth Islamic Caliphate.
The answer to this challenge is not to coddle or pet the rabid mad dog, for he is dangerous in all of his guises. It is also not to do as the current political authorities have chosen to do: circle the wagons and weaken rather than strengthen the very democratic institutions and structures that separates us from becoming mad dogs ourselves, which to render us so, obviously is one of the Jihadist primary goals.
As was the case in Lebanon, the grand shift in demographics, our racial problems, and the weaknesses of our shamelessly bifurcated political system, all make us ripe for successful infiltration by radical Islamist Jihadism. As the author so presciently notes, the U.S. is especially vulnerable to the opportunities offered by the disenchantment with Christianity and racism in America's Black and Latin communities. With demographics moving away from a complete monopoly at all levels of the American power structure by whites only, the Jihadist challenge could become, and get played out in the U.S., in the same kind of multidimensional way it did in Lebanon.
A failure to hear the message because of lack of trust in the current messengers, and because of a serious breakdown in our national dialogue, is one of the many luxuries of a free society that this author is warning us we can no longer afford. Too many things are passively working in the background to the Jihadist favor. It is a problem that cannot wait to be solved. It must be surmounted now, or we may wake up in the same kind of nightmare that Brigitte Gabriel and her family found themselves. A quick but devastatingly important read.

Summary: Another Wake Up Call. Is Anybody Listening?
Comment: Brigitte Gabriel's combination of autobiographical and historical information creates a unique work which, through her own personal experience and knowledge of Islam, should be required reading for all Americans. She describes how Lebanon, once a thriving, pluralistic democracy, was infiltrated by Islamist terrorists who joined forces with local leftist radicals to foment a revolution which terrorized non-Moslems under the guidance of Iran and Syria. If this seems to be a familiar pattern, it is because it is currently being repeated in western Europe, Asia and Africa by those who seek to incite global jihad and usher in a new caliphate. Ms. Gabriel cites the influence of Saudi money in spreading Islamist propaganda to college campuses throughout the United States in order to create a fifth column of jihadi supporters in academia and other institutions (the Saudis are the single largest donors to Bill Clinton's presidential library). Ms. Gabriel also cites specific examples of the irrationally hateful anti-American rhetoric that is issued from the state-run media of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and a host of other alleged allies on the war on terror, and explains the Islamic concept of Taqqiya, or lying in support of Islam, giving the insanity a cultural context which is chilling in its implications. Her warning, which is that any democracy can be undermined in this way, should terrify those of us who do not wish to raise our children as dhimmis in the new caliphate of the Wahhabis or the Iranian Shiites.

Summary: Right on, Bridgette!
Comment: I'm not all the way through this book, but just had to jump in with a comment! How anyone could disparage Brigette Gabriel and her account is beyond me! What she has been through is beyond my sense of understanding. Yet I also believe many Americans (hopefully not the majority) have their head in the sand and don't want to believe what she says about Islam's intent. Yet, if one reads all the examples she gives, I don't see how anyone could believe radical Islam is not hard at work spreading hate and discontent! Brigette is a very brave woman and I will pray for her safety in her world of truthful telling of a murderous movement! Virginia

Summary: BE FOR WARNED AND FOR ARMED
Comment: As a CAPT in the US Navy, I have been in Iraq and have seen first hand people who are under Islam will do. The book "They Must Be Stopped" is an outstanding begining book that looks up front and close at the enemy of our world. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to understand the truth about Islam. I also recommend a book called "The Link": The Secret Relationship between Saddam and al Qaida is available for sale on lulu.com in soft cover. If you like to read more.
