Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Reference Comment: I have purchased this book based on my use of a previous edition (2003. I found that edition to be easy to use. This edition is no different. I like the way that this book is organized. It allow you to search first by the medical name of the drug. However, do not fear if you only know what the trade name (or the name which the drug is marketed under) the index will have it. It lists the drugs by both the Trade and medical name.
This guide is great if you are trying to understand the side effects, or the estimated time that the drug takes to have a theraputic response. There are many other good things about this guide it alerts you to herbal interactions, high alert drugs, lab test conflicts or things to look out for etc. This book is aimed at those whom are nurses or those with a fair amount of medical knowlege. However, it is not overly technical either. Its size makes it easy to carry but it also lists a lot of the drugs that are out there and even some of the newer ones. I would recommend it to anyone that is seeking a reference with lots of information but not one that is overwhelming.
Depending on your field of practice or need for such information I would recommend that if you find this book the one that works well for you that you would choose this author and publisher for its susequent editions because with each new edition it continues to improve on it solid reputation as being one of the best drug references out there!
Customer Rating: Summary: Drug Guide Comment: This book was pre-ordered prior to printing. It is everything I expected and more.
Thanks!
Customer Rating: Summary: Mosby's nursing drug reference Comment: I love this drug book. All the meds are listed alphabetacally by generic name. This is important to me as a nurse because generic names are less likely to be look alike or sound alike than are brand name drugs.
Plus there are sections in the front for general categories of meds such as antidepressants or antibiotics.
And there's even noted herbal interactions.
It's the ONLY drug book I've ever found to be helpful as a nurse and pharmacy and therapeutics committe member
Customer Rating: Summary: Very Helpful Comment: This drug book is great, the information given is straight to the point, easy to read. I have found that there are some meds that are not in the book and I have to borrow a friends edition of Davis's but overall it's an excellent source.
Customer Rating: Summary: Valuable tool Comment: There are several drug books out there which are targeted toward nurses but I find Mosby's Nursing Drug Reference to be the most user friendly and complete. Mine stays in my nursing bag and is used on a daily basis. It is impossible to keep up with all of the new medications entering the market each year; so this little book allows me to find information quickly. Other members of my family keep one handy as well as a reference.
