Customer Rating: Summary: I didn't like this book at all Comment: I found this book to be poorly written, inadequately edited, and virtually impossible to use alone. Chapter three details making a bow and arrow using modern tools and deer sinew. There's no explanation of how to get deer sinew if you don't have the tools to hunt deer. I'm sure there's information in here. . .the chapter on making fire looked like it may be useful if you're willing to drag through the amateur writing. Overall, however, I found the book to be a waste of time and money.
Customer Rating: Summary: primitive wilderness living Comment: Information that you will never be able to find anywhere else. If primitive living is your thing, this book is a must read.
Customer Rating: Summary: #1 in my collection Comment: I have books on survival skills and this is the most usefull. This book is priceless. Lots of good pictures and everything is explained very well in his own words. If you are interested in wilderness/survival/etc. this is a must have. Just read the other reviews if you don't believe me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great book !! Comment: What a great book..super informative, lots of pictures and instructions..If I wanted one book to take into the wilderness this would be it..I can't say enough good stuff about it..Easy too read and learn from..
Customer Rating: Summary: Honest portrayal of survival skills Comment: The authors of this book take great care to write about what they know. The level of effort and the trials of learning the skill are discussed in every case. Most novices think that after reading a particular survival skill, such as the fire bow, they can do it. These authors make you understand how hard it is to implement the theories, and in other cases, how simple things really are.
A good read for anyone who is interested in crafting useful and intelligent resources from nature.
A mix of wildnerness survival and primitive living worth reading.
Tons of photographs, few hand drawings (only when essential) and the passion for wilderness skills is obvious and contagious!
