Editorial Reviews:

Over 85% of Americans today express concern about health and the environment, but only a small fraction say they know where to begin. Whether you are concerned about climate change, personal health, or just want to live more lightly on the planet, this book is for you. It helps you get past the worry and take positive action to improve both your health and the health of our environment.

Based on a lifetime of research and practice, this practical guide for living green offers advice and solutions you can easily put into practice, like:

*The 10 foods you should always eat organic to avoid pesticides, herbicides, hormones and antibiotics. *Affordable and practical ways to offset your "carbon footprint" and neutralize your personal impact on global warming. *The most chemically-intensive personal care, household cleaning and lawn care products, and their effective natural alternatives. *How soft plastic water bottles hurt your health, your pocket book and our environment, with a simple and refreshing alternative. *How a simple carbon filter can dramatically improve your everyday health and potentially add years to your life. *The truth about hybrids and flex fuels. *Why an organic mattress is the most important health investment you can make. Foreword by Jordan Rubin, New York Times best-selling author of The Maker's Diet.

Summary: A So So Book
Comment: I was not very satisfied with this book. Even though it is only a couple of years old, it seems to miss some very important things. I was hoping this book would give a better refrence to things than it did, such as recipies for cleaners, diy projects and the like. However, it was a more of an outline on steps to live greener, with quips from his personal life. Several of his suggestions would also require money that the average person doesnt have (especially in this economy!) and therefor they do not seem very practical. I was also very dissapointed with the coverage on feminine hygene and there was no mention of such things as Diva Cups, one the greenest feminine hygene products that exists.

This book might be good for someone just starting to venture into green living, but I would not recommend it to someone already living green and looking for ways to expand.

Summary: Important Read...
Comment: I first saw this book at my doctor's office, and knew I needed to add this to my ever growing library of books on 'greening' our lives. I've done extensive research on living healthier and less toxic lives. We recently completed building a green home and I give talks to groups about how dangerous toxic chemicals are and what we can do to avoid, eliminate, or lower our risk for health problems. I love the understandable way Mr. Horn writes about these issues. It is a great book for people who just want to know the plain facts. I like to recommend books to people who are becoming interested in living healthier and this is one I will definitely include in my list of books.

Summary: Good Intro to Living Green
Comment: This is a good introductory book for individuals who are not familiar with this topic. I didn't learn anything new but I felt that I would have if I was new to "Living Green".

Summary: Disappointing and redundant
Comment: The author's personal story was interesting and was a good example of what can and will happen if we continue to live in a toxic world. I would consider this book more of a primer instead of a "good or interesting read". I found the author's information and use of examples redundant. I would have preferred a shorter book as opposed to reading the same thing over and over again.

Summary: Pretentious
Comment: I was looking for a book to actually provide information on sustainability rather then a book packed with suggestions on becoming a toxin-phobe. Some of the suggestions were helpful, but not for a beginner in gaining insight and understanding on why to begin living green. Instead the book shut me down in the first chapter (after purchasing a queen regular mattress and realizing the toxins in the mattress he got rid of it and slept on the floor for 3 weeks until his organic cotton mattress appeared. Some of us are just not there yet). Do to it's pretentious tone and hypersensitivity, I would not recommend this book.
