Comment: I read an average of 3 books a week in this genre and I found this one to be one of the very best. The word I use is balanced as this describes the storyline very well. There is enough action, romance, mystery, thought provoking concepts and of course the obligatory sex for this type of book.
I am always disappointed when sex and violence becomes the story rather than being used to enhance the story. In this book, Meyer, has used all elements in powerful ways. The sexual tension between Conn and Leigh is felt throughout the book and when it finally materializes into the real thing, it fits the story very well and makes sense.
The storyline itself, although written before our present stock market crisis, is very timely. You can imagine these types of deals occurring on a daily basis with the unknowning small investor being caught in the middle. Additionally the concept of terrorists around the world being involved with corporate America also causes the reader to contemplate the world in which we live.
It was also very easy to see the sequel to this book being developed. I am looking forward to reading Rising Storm and gaining additional insights into what makes these characters tick. Job well done!!!!!!

Comment: Welcome Ms. Jane Bond Agent 008 onto the literary scene. This book had it all white collar crime , terrorism, murder, wild rides, chase scenes, scares and rescues, spies, and romance between an unlikely pair. You will not be able to put in down - at least I wasn't.

Comment: Be carried away into intrigue, suspense, and romance by two beautifully drawn characters.
JLee entices us with her ability to transform a romance into so much more. This is not your traditional, one dimensional romance.
Prepare to ride the wave of excitement as the author shows us how to write!
There is just enough angst, longing, and compelling uncertainty to keep the reader committed to JLee's second novel.

Comment: Suspenseful, well written, detailed...but when I read a lesbian romance I expect to get the payoff before the last page of the novel.

Summary: Satisfying journey you won't want to miss
Comment: When Dr. Conn Stryker, PhD and CEO of a forensic software firm with governmental ties meets Leigh Groove, a possible informant in her latest sting, she does everything she can to avoid getting close. Even though their first encounter ends up with Leigh in Conn's arms, Conn is a self-imposed loner who steers clear of relationships, especially when it involves her work.
What happens when Leigh, presumably straight, meets the person of her dreams, and that person happens to be a woman? Conn is a tall striking redhead with a brilliant mind, who sweeps her off her feet. Conn is mysterious, reserved, and a tough woman to figure out but the outgoing and persistent Leigh is up for the challenge.
Leigh is a cover model, a Harvard sorority girl and debutante, and has a Wharton MBA. She's particularly endearing when she uses humor in the face of danger to get out of deadly situations. Readers won't be able to turn the pages quick enough to find out if Conn lets Leigh into her heart even if it means risking Leigh's life?
First Instinct by JLee Meyer is a romance, but before long Meyer proves that she has something special to offer in her action-packed intriguing love story. Meyer's heroines are quirky, funny, and so very good together that you can't visualize them apart. Between the multi-dimensional characters with their genuine virtues and flaws, a plot you won't have figured out from the beginning, and a most satisfying conclusion, First Instinct leaves readers sated but anxious for more. Luckily, Rising Storm picks up where First Instinct leaves off.
From the absurdly funny to the romantic moments, First Instinct, a 2007 Golden Crown Literary Award winner, is a satisfying journey you won't want to miss.
