Customer Rating: Summary: Bring this Halloween treat BACK!!! Comment: For years I searched for this movie! At last I've found it!
I remember watching it every Halloween on the Disney Channel when I was a child (in the eighties). My sister and I just adored it but then Disney stopped airing it sometime in the nineties. Years later I would recall how funny it was but had no idea what it was called. I used to ask friends if they remembered a Halloween movie in which Dracula saved Halloween by persuading a witch to fly over the moon, but I just got a lot of weird stares. However, I can see from the reviews here that this short little movie obviously left an impression on several kids.
This movie MUST be released on DVD. It's such a shame that it isn't. It might not have the highest production values, but the humor is rather addictive.
By the way, for those of you craving to see it again...it's on Youtube. Search under "The Halloween that Almost Wasn't." It was great to see it after all these years! Customer Rating: Summary: WANTED!!! Dead (on VHS) or alive (DVD)!!! Comment: Halloween specials sure don't get any more magical than this!
Trust me, this one's a real treat!
I tried searching for it as "The Halloween That Almost Wasn't", which was the title it originally had back when I first saw it on TV in the late eighties. Thank God for Amazon's user reviews for letting me know the title's been changed.
There's a genuine Halloween flavor to these unforgettable 30-minutes of your time that you just couldn't resist, and has left me personally with some wonderful and very distinct memories of the whole thing.
The monsters are all super fun to watch, especially as they all get together to try bringing back the witch's Halloween spirit. Some really funny moments too.
If they're gonna release some really dumb movies out there on DVD, how could they let this one slip by, especially since it seems to have cast a spell on just about anyone who's seen it.
Customer Rating: Summary: HERMAN MUNSTER WAS IN THIS? Comment: I only saw this once when it first aired. I hope a dvd release will happen soon. But did you know, John Schuck who played Herman Munster in the much too harshly criticized THE MUNSTERS TODAY coincidently played the Frankenstein monster in this? That alone is reason to pick this up. Customer Rating: Summary: I agree - PUT THIS ON DVD!! Comment: Seriously, this really is a fun Halloween story that I know kids would like. The little ones will dig the story and the older ones will enjoy the cheesy 70's-ness of it. I know my brother and I certainly did when we first saw this on the Disney Channel in the mid-80's. The sequence where Judd Hirsch is forced to go "Disco DAN-cing" is almost enough to make me pay $50 for this film - but I'd much rather save my cash and wait for it to be released on DVD. Is there any way we could petition Judd Hirsch to get is support for this effort? Customer Rating: Summary: a wonderful halloween tradition Comment: I remember waiting for this movie to come on tv everytime halloween came around, my favorite part was always "teeny tiny bat, teeny tiny bat", for those of you who have had the pleasure to see this movie I'm sure you know what I am talking about. I hope that it is re-released so my daughter can enjoy it as much as I did.
