Customer Rating: Summary: I wish there were more stars to give Comment: Rosie is the ultimate star- five is not nearly enough. The only thing I can complain about is that I have always, since I was little, wished this TV special was longer. There are more songs on the album, which I think came first. You can't lose with this- if you can find it!
Customer Rating: Summary: The greatest cartoon ever! In an amazing experiment! Comment: Hey everybody. There is no question that this is the greatest cartoon of all time. Check out the reviews. All 5 stars. Except for one weirdo that only gave it 4 stars. In commemoration of the greatest cartoon ever, I will do a new type of review. This show is on Youtube right now in 3 pieces. Each about 8 minutes. So I am going to open all three parts and watch them at the same time, finishing this half hour special in about 8 minutes.
Here goes nothin-Lights, Action, Camera!
Wow this is amazing. I am going to have watch this like a minute at a time and pause though or else I'll forget things. Anyway, you gotta try this because it is a lot of fun. So far I've got three songs going on at once. It is also strange how I decide which of the three screen to focus on. I seem to be focusing most of my attention of part 2 right now-Rosie's argument with Pierre. Also going on is the beginning, of course, and the Chicken soup song.
Ok, it's been a couple minutes and strange things are happening to me! Now I watched this all the time as a kid so no doubt it deeply affected the way the Patriarch's mind developed. And it left it's marks as well. I feel myself having all these flashbacks to when I was a child. It's a very strange feeling. I feel like I did back when I was in kindergarten and first grade and stuff. This is kind of scary but no sacrifice is too great for art. Back to the show.
This is scary. Now my computer is beginning to crash. It just can't take the combined power of a condensed version of the best cartoon ever! This is amazing. Well, I copy and pasted this review because if my computer crashes it will be the loss of this great experiment.
Back again. Ok my computer crashed under the supreme power of this cartoon. If we could harness the power of this cartoon in condensed form, we could perhaps create a weapon of mass destruction, or since this is an educational cartoon, a weapon of mass instruction. I am going to try this one more time.
Ok, I am just downright dizzy. It feels like I've been spinning around in a chair or something. I would call this experiment a success!
Customer Rating: Summary: DVD please Comment: Please, reissue this on dvd!! I would definately buy a copy on dvd.
Customer Rating: Summary: A great film with great songs Comment: I have been looking for this video for the longest! I have great memories of seeing the film and and singing the songs in elementary school, and still remember parts of "Pierre" and "Chicken Soup with Rice." I don't know what it is about Carole King's voice, but it has resonated in my memory for over 20 years.
I recently asked Weston Woods, the distributor of the VHS, about the possibility of releasing the film on DVD. They responded:
"The rights to REALLY ROSIE have been [held] up for close to ten years now due to legal reasons. The original parties involved in producing the film are in the midst of working this out, and we're hopeful that we'll be able to re-release the film on DVD in the not-too-distant future. If we do, we'll be re-mastering it from an original 35mm print."
I hope they are able to work it out too! I want to make sure my nieces and cousins have influence from great children's visual and musical art-- particularly the non-Disney variety!!
Customer Rating: Summary: It's Where the Wild Things Are! Comment: I would rate this higher, if I could. Four songs from this TV special are on the "Where the Wild Things Are" Dvd. Also included is "In the Night Kitchen".
