Summary: No DVD !!!
Comment: I'm shocked that this is NOT on DVD. I've viewed clips of this concert on you tube and would buy this in a heartbeat. This is a Masterpiece with great music and great artists. A piece of Rock & Roll history.

Summary: Wish I was there ...
Comment: This was the night when everything fell into place. Having watched it on VHS so many times one can hope there'll soon be a release on DVD. Not many video-concerts that gives you goose pimples nowadays but this one certainly does ... Like a Hitchcock thriller the excitement builds up until Neil Young enters the stage. To me, the performance of "All Along The Watchtower" together with Booker T & The MG's is nothing but pure joy to watch - it must be "The greatest video song number of all times". Note Steve Cropper's reaction when Neil joins all the other artists for the final - he simply must take his hand with a big smile on his face ...! Six stars out of five ...

Summary: best of the brightest
Comment: A masterful homage with too many highlights to mention. Worth any price for Richie Haven's Just Like a Woman, Johnny Winters Highway 61,Eddie Vedder, Neil Young and the first few bars of Knocking on Heaven's Door. Sinead O' Connor's defiant tribute to the "other" Bob by speaking "War" a capella was courageous and to be respected. All she did was dare to criticise the Pope, the leader of a church who have perpetuated centuries of oppression of women. The boneheads who booed her were ignorant cowards. So much for the land of the free and the home of the brave. By the way, the decision to sell the concert as dvd is not sony's. It is up to Bob. So who knows when, or if.

Summary: Why not on DVD?
Comment: I saw this concert on VHS in the 90's. I was lucky to find it at my video store. Now, of course, it is practically unavailable on VHS, and not at all on DVD. Why? It is one of the finest tribute concerts ever. Each performance seems to rival the next for quality, and it goes on for at least a couple of hours. For me, two of the highlights are Johnny Winter's revelatory version of Highway 61 Revisited and Vedder's Masters of War. Who's here? Oh, no one, just The Band, George Harrison, Eddie Vedder, Lou Reed, Neil Young, Roger Mcguinn and anyone the producers asked. Now, a lineup like that can lead either to epiphany or a terrible mistake. Luckily, the former was the result. One day it will go to DVD (how much longer they can ignore it may depend on the sagacity of whoever is minding Dylan's business end). and then everyone may get to experience this unforgettable night.
