Comment: The Fuma Conspiracy is also available and it is one of his best. Make an extra bowl of popcorn and watch Goemon bride is kidnapped by evil Ninja. The ransom is simple. the key to a hidden treasure!

Comment: Even though Animeigo was prevented from using the real title of LUPIN because it was licensed through Streamline pictures at the time, RUPAN III-THE LEGEND OF THE GOLD OF BABYLON was one of Lupin's later theatrical releases. Set after CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO and MYSTERY OF MAMO, Lupin and the gang head for New York to search for the lost gold of Babylon. How it ended up in Manhattan is the mystery. Fujiko pretends to suck up to a rich archeologist/artist who is secretly leader of the local mafia. Lupin and his partners, Goemon and Jigen, dodge the hoods while making a betting pool of how they can avoid Inspector Zenigata. Then, the gang heads for the middle-east to find some clues. After some tomb raiding, Lupin discovers that the treasure was dropped by "god" millenia ago and landed in NY. Now Lupin must try to satisfy his greed by getting back the gold and Fujiko, whose been kidnapped, before Earth gets some close encounters. They clearly had some Raider Of The Lost Ark in mind when they made this film, but Lupin prooved he can take on Indiana Jones or even Lara Croft anytime!

Summary: This is typical Lupin fare, with so-so animation.
Comment: If anyone knows and loves Lupin, then they'll definitely wanna see this one. If anyone doesn't, then I'll explain. It's about a thief who goes all over teh world in search of treasure, aided by his samurai and gangster friends, while competing with his femla ex girlfriend, and running from a persistent Inspector Gadget-like detective. This one's about an ancient treasure from Babylon, and Lupin meets up with a gangster nemesis who wants the treasure to fulfill his father's lost dream. Lupin meets up with a shadowy old lady who somehow is able to guide him to his search. For anime fans, the conclusion may/may not be predictable, but overall, the characters and pacing make this title a keeper. Some people may not like the animation, but that doesn't make the movie any less enjoyable. Overall, you can expect a lot for your money with this one, especially if you're an Indiana Jones fan.
