Summary: I agree with the first reviewer...
Comment: My 2 year old son really enjoys the tape for the variety of animals, but would probably be just as interested in a tape geared toward a more adult audience? He is not interested in the Spin character at all. Dudley Moore sounds like he's not getting paid enough to do the job! The information is not very well organized and the music (more than is necessary, in my opinion) is cheesy. The photography of the animals is great, but that's the only redeeming quality of this tape.

Summary: Didn't meet expectations...
Comment: I ordered this film for a 3 year old, and although he enjoys it, it isn't one I would recommend for grown up viewing. The overall production and editing are well executed. However, the music is dated and bland. The songs are a mix of '80's style pop and cheesy show tunes.
Dudley Moore as Spin sounds tired, and the animation is low quality. The dialogue is inconsistent as well. At the beginning of the program, he asks viewers if they would like to find out certain facts about animals; why lions have manes, how much elephants eat in a day, etc. But these questions are never answered during the course of the program.
If you don't believe in the theory of evolution, stay away from this video. It really tries to pound this opinion into viewers, with a song devoted to pointing out similarities between apes and humans. What is irritating is that it does so using only superficial resemblances, e.g. apes swing through trees, people swing on monkey bars; apes eat bananas, people eat bananas...
Swingin' Safari doesn't provide much real information, and seems more like light entertainment with an animal theme. If you're looking for a musical with animals, rent or buy The Lion King II. If you want an educational video, I would recommend any of National Geographic's regular videos rather than this watered down version.

Summary: Beautiful Film. Great for the whole family.
Comment: Spectacular photography and great music written by Alan O'Day. I watch this one over and over and I love it every time. It's really made for kids, but I think adults will like it also. It's worth buying. I love the opening song about Lions and "Stripes" written for the zebras. The closing song "The heart that beats in Africa" is awesome.
