Summary: Shocking, thought provoking documentary: the "other" Brasil
Comment: This is a very interesting documentary based on the misfortunes of a gay flight attendent who likes to vacation in Brazil...that is until he meets a Brazilian boy who robs him and leaves a life threatening message drawn with lipstick on the bathroom mirror - Welcome to the AIDS Club. The documentary is somewhat slow at certain points but it is all in context and helps to portray the protagonist's desperation. After learning that he does indeed have the virus the protagonist, with the help of his friend, leads us through the "other" side of Brazil in search of a confrontation with the culprit. There is a lot of nudity and tends to show the "stereotipical" gay persona of man as sexual predator but over all the insight into the hidden side of Brazilian culture and thought-provoking subject matter make it a worth while film. Filmed in German and Portuguese with English subtitles.
