Summary: WRESTLING FOR THE SEASON
Comment: HALLOWEEN HAVOC 97

After checking out some other reviews by Main Man [shout out] I noticed his nickname was Wrestleanimaniac, which reminded me that I needed to get some wrestling out of my system and what better way to stay with the season then an event with Halloween in the title. This was actually a good event and that is saying something because this event sometimes was a little lackluster.

1.YUJI NAGATA VS ULTIMO DRAGON-man Dragon is a guy that I wish was still around on the U.S. scene, TNA would be a nice fit for him. This was a pretty good opening contest with the technical wrestler against the high flyer. There is a lot of good action in this match and goes back and forth but Yuji wins with a submission.4/5

2.GEDO VS CHRIS JERICHO-another good match that kinda resembles the first match but falls a little short from the previous bout. There was some good action though and a deadly looking hurricarana that makes it look like Y2J broke his neck. Still the match was good and a worthy addition to the card.3.5/5

3.[cruiserweight championship]REY MYSTERIO JR. VS EDDIE GUERRERO [champ]-absolutely one of the best matches on the card if not the best, these two put on a classic for the whole world to see. Rey who wears one of the coolest outfits he ever wore ends up winning the belt after a great reversal from the top rope. But before that these two trade moves like no other two can do, Eddie [R.I.P.] dominates most of the match in my opinion but it is still a competitive match. One of the best matches on the card if not the best.5/5

4.STEVE "MONGO" MCMICHAEL VS ALEX WRIGHT-I have to admit that I was always a fan of Mongo even though he was not a great wrestler, but I always thought he was entertaining [he is also going to appear at the next TNA pay-per-view]. Alex was always a decent wrestler in my eyes and at times was involved in some really good matches, this was not one of them. Alex who in my opinion was better as a cocky heel is obviously the more talented of the two but Mongo just seems more interesting. And while there is nothing to memorable about this match other then Goldberg's interference, it is still cool to watch all this old WCW stuff.2.5/5

5. INFERNO [TV champ] VS JACQUELYN-ok two more confession for you, I actually enjoyed Disco and thought he was entertaining and I still love seeing Jacky topless at that UK WWF pay-per-view [Capital Carnage] {same thing happens here sort of}. This match how ever just takes to long to get started and once it does start there is even more stalling, still Jacky wins this.2.5/5

6.[US championship]CURT HENNING [champ] VS RIC FLAIR-this is a really good match between Ric Flair and Curt Henning [R.I.P.] and really takes me back to the good old days of WCW. This is a technical wrestling classic with a brawl feeling like atmosphere to it, kind of an interesting mix if you ask me. Some people didn't enjoy this one as much as me but the action mixed with story line and intensity really make this great. This is two of the greatest ever in my opinion going at it, what more could you ask for. The ending for this is great with Flair knocking out the refs and the NWO having to come to the aid of Henning.5/5

7.SCOTT HALL VS LEX LUGER LARRY ZABSZKO[ref]-naturally Hall brings Syxx to the ring with him and WCW's super baby face [why did every one push this guy so hard to the fans] Luger comes to the ring alone. This was a battle between two of the big names at the time in wrestling and for what these two can do it is a pretty good match. I have always enjoyed Hall [when he would show up] and thought he was a good performer, but I never really was a fan of Luger although I do not hate the guy. The match over all was good but the most memorable moments come from the ref, Larry's kick to Eric and his disposal of Hall are great. Hall takes the win after an Outsiders Edge although Larry did not want too count it. But once Larry sees a replay showing Syxx interfering he starts the match over, were of course Luger wins with a torture rack. Nice Guillotine Larry puts on Syxx, the after math brings this match up a little.3.5/5

8."MACHO MAN" RANDY SAVAGE VS DDP-Macho Man was and still is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, possibly my favorite, right up there with HBK. I always though that his feud with DDP in WCW was actually one of his best ever, even though he was on the losing end of it some times. This was a last man standing match that ended up being one of the better matches on the card as if I didn't know. These two really go at each other laying it all out there and inflicting a lot of damage on each other. They even brawl into the crowd and bump into Raven's Flock who was sitting ring side, in fact it was Raven and his flock that DDP would end up feuding with later on. Savage even tries to pull an HBK/Psycho Sid moment with a camera, and Elizabeth gets involved but gets into it with Kimberly. I still think it is bull that DDP got up after two Savage elbow drops from the top rope onto DDP's injured ribs, it takes a bat shot to the ribs from the fake Sting to end this. But all is well that ends well and Savage comes out on top.5/5

9.{STEEL CAGE} HULK HOGAN[heavyweight champ] VS RODDY PIPER-as much as I hate Hogan this is actually an entertaining cage match, and has a crazy looking cage. Piper who has always been a favorite of mine does an excellent job in this match taking to Hogan. The action is pretty good with Piper dominating most of the match and taking the win after putting Hogan to sleep with a sleeper after Savage nails Hogan after an insane leap from the top of the cage. Afterwards Savage, Hogan and Eric cuff Piper to the cage and beat on him, it is at this point that a fan actually gets in the cage to help Piper and is talked by a fake Sting. But after that Hogan and Savage really started beating this guy, and I mean for real. I don't know if they knew it was a fan, or if they thought it was one of the many fake Stings that were out there apart of the story line because of the face paint but they tore into this guy as officials tried to get them off of him. That ending alone is worth the 5 out of 5.5/5

Even though this had some moments and bouts that were not that memorable the ones that were make up for it, I recommend owning this one. It felt good to get this out and stick with the season, now if only I could find a way to do this with some MMA.

Summary: The Golden Era of Wrestling
Comment: Ok 1st off this PPV was good only for the fact of the talent involved. You had many veterans competing such as Mach, Hogan, Piper and, Luger. You had the
awesome power struggle between the NWO and WCW. Raven and his folck at ringside for the whole event which made it that much better. Jericho early in his career taking on a wrestler whom I never heard of from Japan. Stilla good match if you are a jerichoholic. Mysterio and Guerrero had a classic with plenty of high risk and near falls. DDP and Macho have a solid street fight. Hogan and Piper go at for the 3rd time in their WCW PPV career. After watching that match
you can really tell the difference between 85 and 97. Anyway, you gotta give it up for these two. They are legends and they can still control the crowd. It is complete chaos towards the end so bad and funny that I can't even wrtie about it. Fake Stings, Macho jumping off the top of the cage, and a fan trying to climb in into the ring! Best matches of the night:
Piper VS Hogan
Guerrero VS Mysterio
DDP VS Macho
My opinion this is a golden video with many of the stars that made Mcmahon sweat in his gucci draws! Definetly pick this one up while it is cheap.

Comment: This PPV was pretty weak, the Flair/Henning match was a dream match but also a letdown. The rest of the mid card you could have seen on Thunder. The Cage Main Event was pretty silly with Savage doing an insane dive off the cage that i don't even think Foley of New Jack would attempt. Also a fan jumps the cage and some phony Stings break character and tackle him.
