Customer Rating: Summary: Stryper - In God We Trust Comment: "In God We Trust" (1998) is the fifth album from Christian glam metal band Stryper. This is vintage Stryper - yellow and black spandex, huge perms, and Michael Sweet singing like a woman.
"In God We Trust" embraces the corny, poppy, catchy side of glam metal. It's incredibly cheesy, and almost every song has a memorable, get-in-your-head chorus. Almost certainly Stryper was making a move toward the mainstream.
If that's what you're looking for, you could do a lot worse.
Customer Rating: Summary: Stryper-In God We Trust Comment: Yet another great cd by stryper. I lost all of my cassettes of stryper and thought I would never find them. I love that they put them on cd so I could add to my collection. Stryper as a whole has always been one of the greatest bands that I really enjoy listening to over and over again. They always contain a Godly message in each and every song. The band and the cd is absolutely great.
Customer Rating: Summary: We Just Gotta Be Strong...! Comment: Stryper decided to change their style a little bit but it doesn't mean that this album is awful. It may be a little bit overproduced but it still has the same message as the earlier albums...and it rocks! The songs like "In God We Trust", "The Reign", and "The Writing's on the Wall" are very rocking and I love them but I also love the slow ones "I Believe in You", "Lonely" and "The World of You And I". However, I find the songs "It's Up 2 U" and "Come to the Everlife" a little bit awful because of their too sweety message. Uh! "Always There for You" and "Keep the Fire Burning" are really good instead. I think that all the Stryper fans don't like this album but give it a chance.
Stars: The Writing's on the Wall, The Reign, Always There for You
Customer Rating: Summary: Timeless (Christian) Rock! Comment: Come on, admit it.... you remember the old days when MTV actually played music, watching the Stryper videos playing and rocking out to the music.
I got the urge to hear some of their classic hits again, so I picked up the first four CDs via Amazon. I fully expected to listen to them now and think, "Huh, I remember them being so much better than this...."
I was wrong. Their original songs still rock as hard today as any other band out there in their sound genre. They didn't go for half the gimicky sound that some of the bands had, they just stuck to a standard rock & roll formula that worked, and it sounds just as great today as it did back then.
Well worth the meager price paid for the CDs. ;-)
Customer Rating: Summary: CHRISTIAN ROCK Comment: Fans of rock and heavy metal will not be disapointed with the driving beat and heavy guitar solos. Amazing clairity of notes compared to some songs where you are not sure where the guitarist is going.
The best part is the uplifting message you get without being sappy or uncool. Non-Christian rockers may not be use to the name of Jesus being used in a song (interesting how Satan may be mentioned and no one has a problem with that) These are written with God in mind and still kicks out incredible wrifs and sounds made famous during the "glam" age of rock.
This is definatly a "hair" band of the 80's with powerful presents that you can compare to "Poison, Cinderella, and the like". Lead singer hits high notes many will not try. If you like this - you must get the "Soldiers under Command" album which does all this and showcases more dirty guitar with monster layering I would compare to "Metallica"
