Summary: Bad for your stereo and your health
Comment: I've been wasting a lot of money recently purchasing albums that I wouldn't normally listen to,but that have been rated five stars in various music review books that I own and,for the most part,while I don't think that any of my recent purchases merits five stars,I know that this one definitely doesn't.It easily qualifies as the worst trash that I've ever heard and,believe me,I listen to and enjoy a lot of different kinds of music from the 1930s to today.This is certanly not music;all it is is out and out noise.The critics actually prefer this to Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music"(which,admittedly,I haven't heard either,but it can't be much worse)?As the title of my review states,this CD is bad for your stereo(the constant,loud bass beats could very well damage your speakers and it's a wonder that my stereo didn't just spit this CD out)as well as your health(if you're brave enough to listen to it all the way through,you'll most likely end up with a massive headache;I dare anyone to listen to the whole thing with headphones on).One of the books that I have that rates this album as a "must-own" is titled,"1,001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die",but,seriously,I wanted to die after listening to this damn thing.I was completely sober when I listened (as I always am),and I don't know what kind of drugs you have to be on to enjoy this "music",but I just didn't get it.I tried,I really did,to listen with an open mind hoping that it would eventually get better,but it just never did.The CD that I listened to right after this was Daft Punk's second release,titled,"Discovery" and I could not believe the improvement.It was almost as if it was recorded by an entirely different group.Don't get me wrong;there's still plenty of annoying,repetitive crap to be heard on "Discovery" as well,just not a whole album's worth.One of the most significant differences was that "Discovery" contained clear,audible vocals whereas "Homework" did not.Please take my advice and stay far,far away from this release and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Summary: Strongly NOT recommended for "Easy Listening" or "Adult Contemporary" fans.
Comment: The very first time I've listened to this album, I thought my player got broken or the CD was scratched, but then I listened again afterwards and noticed that it was actually the real sound of Daft Punk. No strings attached.
After a few more times of listening and deep-diving it, I suddenly found myself hooked to the loops and beats of what could be considered the best Daft Punk album ever. A risky project which turned into quite a good electronic/house classic, as good for workout as it is for partying.
Weird samples, extreme loops, mad beats and several other bizarre sounds made this album an essential if you're in it for electronic.
"Around the World" is a true all-time gem, for sure.
Strongly not recommended for "Easy Listening" or "Adult Contemporary" fans.

Summary: It has become a classic. Its thats great
Comment: I saw one review here which said something about how bad Homework is because of the elemetry beats and the repetivness. This person obvisouly has no idea about how dance music was in the earlier acid days. Violent and repitivive is what they where going for in this album. If you like more pop/easy listning type of music, their second album Discovery is probably more for you. I like all their albums but I must say homework is my favourite. Its all about the TR-909, TR-808 beats, old samplers and dirty basslines produced by vintage synths like the korg ms-20 and so on! -

Summary: Where it all began
Comment: Who knows what the state of techno/electro/house fuse music would be in if it weren't for Daft Punks release of Homework. It certainly wouldn't be where it is now. If you wish to hear where much of it began this is your album. As far as other Daft Punk albums go I would rank this 3rd in listenability however it still has a song or two guaranteed to bring back memories.

Summary: Intoxicating
Comment: How do Daft Punk do it? In all honesty, this should not work for me. It's filled with beats that every single jock loves to imitate (badly), it's loop the loops (Around The World says the title at least 100 times), it's long. The beats kind of remind me of ramped up Darude beats, the cha cha slide (although that song is fun, you have to admit), and the vengaboys, yeesh. Daft Punk, pre-notionally, are destined to crash and burn.
But they don't crash and burn. They _______ soar over it. Not many beats on here pulse through my body this easily. They hit hard like a heart beat. I can feel them running through me like blood. And they all aren't just uhn tiss uhn tiss uhn tiss like most of the morons at my school do. They apply a bit of finese, yet still be dancy as ______. No , I don't mean ANYTHING like Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin, Venetian Snares (just try keeping up with Snares), or even Prodigy. Rather,I think there are plenty of changes, although there really aren't any big ones. It's VERY subtle in change. That's okay, because they never will bore me, because the beats on here stretch. And they all don't follow the exact same pattern. It's the grooving, pulverizing beats and a bit of variety that make it rise above the other club _______.
Oh, and the samples. Thank _______ god that they don't feature the godawful annoying syhtns that plagues all of the hardcore techno ____, the lame, boring noises of Darude like garbage, and of course, the horrifying europop trash. No, they do better. It mostly focuses on the beats, and you'll find some deriative stuff, but just have a look at things such as Daftendirekt, with it's surpisngly addicting voice. Waterfalls, and the only song that can make the awful sound of hardcore and make it good (or at least it sounds like it). Don't get it for that. Daft Punk are more concerned with the beat. Though they know the latter is important too. So it all works out. Only the last two seven minute songs (both are HORRIBLE) suffer.
Music is life and cleanses the soul (or makes it more evil, heh). Music can also entertain you. I love doing both (Though I lean toward the first one). You can't expect too much of it. It's dance music. And I can't get enough of it.
