Recognizing that there's no such thing as bad publicity, manager-Svengali Malcolm McLaren molded the Pistols into the most confrontational, nihilistic band rock & roll had ever seen. Propelled by Johnny Rotten's maniacal vocals, Steve Jones's buzz-saw guitar, and (most importantly) bass player Glen Matlock's hook-filled compositional skills, the Pistols' early singles "Anarchy in the U.K." and "God Save the Queen" defined the raging style of British punk. By the time they recorded their lone 1977 album, Matlock had been bounced, replaced by the image-correct but utterly untalented (and ultimately group-dooming) Sid Vicious. Not a 10th as good as the singles, the album nontheless remains a bile-filled emblem of the times. --Billy Altman

Customer Rating: Summary: This album makes a lot of current rock bands sound dated Comment: A testament to the quality of this album is how refreshing it sounds juxtaposed with a lot of current bands on the radio that listeners claim carry the torch of punk rock. The abrasive guitars still sound aggressive and Johnny Rotten still sounds confrontational when played alongside your friends' library of contemporary shock rock.
If you need an album that outdoes any bands your friends listen to that try to intimidate or rebel against your parents and peers, this is still it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Screed Comment: As seminal an album as has ever been released, this record has lost nothing over the years. Lest punk rock be thought of as sloppy or ill-conceived, this album, from the genre's best-remembered, most influential band, remains as well-crafted as any record ever made. Nothing more need be said.
Customer Rating: Summary: hey..whats one more review? Comment: whoa..454 reviews? is that a record? Well..seems pretty divided here...trash or genious? How bout genious trash? This disc is all about what good punk..or just good rock for that matter..is all about..emblematic of it's time, raw, pissed off, crunchy power chords and Chuck Berry guitar solos...with a flipped middle finger for good measure. The comparisons to bands like Green Day,etc...are way off base..you can't compare real punk with emo,pop-punk,power pop, whatever..it's not the same thing at all. There are certainly better musicians..better bands..better songwriters..but i seriously doubt there will be a band that better exemplifies the sheer, snarling,in yer face power that the Pistols did on this disc...and besides..most of the bands you guys are comparing with were influenced, directly or indirectly, by this very album.Respect yer elders!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: One of the worst albums ever- easily! Comment: My good gracious, this album is simply appalling! The Sex Pistol's other album, "London Calling" was pretty bad too, but this was simply awful! If you want REAL punk, check out Green Day's album "American Idiot". I think Green Day has a thing or two to teach these talentless clowns!
Customer Rating: Summary: NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS HERES THE SEX PISTOLS Comment: Too me probaly the greatest punk album thats ever been made now and than. The Sex Pistols were just one of those bands you dont come by too often and still dont come by bands like The Ramones and The Clash were punk too but The Sex Pistols took it a step further and were even arrested were playing the song, "God Save The Queen", in front of the queen of england. From the opening track, "Holidays in the Sun", to the ending track, "EMI", the album is non stop 3 minute fast punk songs and probaly the best song on the whole album, "Anarchy In The UK". Unfortunatly though this is the only studio Sex Pistols album that has ever been made partly due to the fact of tensions between the band and the death of the bands bass player Sid Vicious but The Sex Pistols were a band that werent meant too last that long and when they were around at there peak they were like no other punk band on the scene. Another album that you cant live without and get these songs today
