For more than a century millions of immigrants and visitors were welcomed to America by the exhilarating sight of the Statue of Liberty. Transcending its remarkable engineering features, beauty, and grace, Lady Liberty has become an icon known around the world as a symbol of freedom and the American spirit. For the millions of steerage-class immigrants who came to America between 1891 and the 1930s, the joy of seeing the Statue for the first time was often followed by the traumatic experience of Ellis Island. The captivating images contained in the screen saver include illustrations created by Argentine-born Jorge Sosa, an internationally known illustrator, designer, and architect. As an American citizen having immigrated to this country many years ago, Sosa has a special affection for the architecture, history, and significance of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
