Customer Rating: Summary: Complete? Comment: Gordon Lightfoot is my favorite singer/songwriter of all time.
This collection is very good, but not what I would call "complete".
Where is "Song For A Winter's Night"?
What about "Cold On The Shoulder"?
Not one track from "Dream Street Rose"?
Also, many of us hardcore fans have favorites that were never "hits" (i.e. "The Watchman's Gone", "Seven Island Suite", etc.) but feel like glaring omissions in a Gord's "greatest" collection.
Maybe a double disc "complete greatest hits" is in order(?!)
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome music Comment: Wow! What a great music CD. Almost every song is memorable. I guess great music reaches across generations....
Customer Rating: Summary: Hits from the 70's Comment: This is a great CD,takes me back to the good ole times. If you are a GORDON LIGHTFOOT fan, this is a Great CD to add to your collection.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Great Collection Comment: This is a top notch CD that will be enjoyed by longtime fans as well as newcomers to Gordon Lightfoot's music.
One of the great singer/songwriters of the 1970s, Lightfoot is a great talent and an amazing storyteller. His music can be classified as pop, light rock, or folk. There is even a bit of country sound at times.
Although I have enjoyed many of his songs for a long time, 'The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald' remains at the top of the list. That one song alone is worth the price of the album. There are several other great ones too. Some of the other ones on here that I like best include: Early Morning Rain, If You Could Read My Mind, Sundown, Carefree Highway, and Rainy Day People.
This is a must have for anyone who loves the best of the 1970s.
Customer Rating: Summary: grew up on gordon Comment: I grew up listening to gordon lightfoot. my father taught himself to play guitar and sing by playing and singing gordon lightfoot songs. I know almost every single song he ever recorded, and love all of them. this CD is one of my favorites, and I have it on my ipod and listen to it quite often. I am 22 years old, born in 1985 and I am a huge gordon lightfoot fan. my sister and I will listen to it over and over perfectly content- she is a year and a half older than me. I may be one of his youngest fans, but I love him!
