Customer Rating: Summary: Quiltmaker ignited my quilting obsession! Comment: I learned how to quilt from scratch in 2000. At that time, there were few night classes offered in my area for working people, but this magazine helped me learn how to quilt anyway. I appreciate how they rate each project (easy, intermediate, advanced) and show a second colorway to consider. Sometimes they also show an alternate setting (like making a 1 ft wall hanging from a larger quilt.) The section on "gizmos and gotta haves" is really interesting and shows the latest stuff - not stuff that's "old news" or has been around for a while. This magazine usually has one or two paper pieced projects, too. If you've never done paper piecing before, Quiltmaker is a good place to learn how. I also enjoy the finished photos sent in by other readers - it's like a quilt guild show and tell without having to leave your house! I do read other quilting magazines, but this one is definitely my favorite and it's a happy day when an issue arrives in my mailbox!
Customer Rating: Summary: Searching Comment: I am trying to find a pattern and article for Heart Raggedy Quilt. It was in the March 04 issue of either McCalls Quilter or Fons & Potters. Does anyone remember and can you advise?
Thank you.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great all around Comment: This is a great magazine in all aspects of what a quilting magazine should be. There are always a great variety of designs, techniques, and articles describing different quilters and some historical aspects of quilting. This is a 'good read' even if you're not planning to make a quilt.
Customer Rating: Summary: Lots of Variety in Quiltmaker Magazine Comment: This magazine has lots of different types of quilts for the quilter who likes variety. I've been buying it off the newsstands for a while and have found it to be one of my favorite magazines. It has tons of quilts in every issue. Everything from tradtional, and scrap quilts to kids and foundation piecing. If you quilt for children you'll love the great ideas that come with every issue. The magazine is in full color with clear and easy instructions. many patterns also include instructions for different sizes. Lots and lots of fun and original ideas. This is not your run-of-the-mill quilt magazine. If you're looking for creative quilt patterns and the latest on notions and tools, this is the magazine for you. I've made 2 quilts from this magazine in the last 5 months and can't wait to get the next issue and pick my next project.
