Comment: I'm noise-sensitive and I got a pair of these Peltor H10A earmuffs to cope with a noisy office. This model is Peltor's top model, from what I can tell.
I love them. The average background noise is completely gone.
I can still hear loud talking when it's close by, but it's reduced to only a faint muffled sound. My high-pitched phone ringing at my desk comes right through, which for me is a good thing so I won't miss calls. They probably do get uncomfortably tight after long periods so I might not wear them all day long (I just got them today.)
Yes, I'm sure they look dorky but for me it's a small price to pay for sanity.

Comment: These are very comfortable and do a great job of blocking noise while still hearing enough to be safe. Try wearing them around the house and see how much quieter your kids(and probably your wife) seem.

Comment: Sadly, the Peltor Earmuffs do not actually have any kind of noise canceling technology. However, you will not be able to hear much anyway given the ear tight design. On top of that, the earmuffs fit comfortably well.
Enjoy almost complete silence with these earmuffs.
