Our Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor detects your baby's slightest movements, even while she sleeps. While it may seem that your baby is perfectly still when she is sleeping, she really isn't.

The under-the-mattress Sensor Pad detects your baby's slightest movements. If your baby goes absolutely still for 20 seconds, the Sensor Pad sends a signal to the Nursery Unit which sounds an alarm alerting you to check your baby. If you are out of the baby's room, the two portable Parents' Units (Sound Monitor) will pick up the alarm as well as other nursery sounds.

In addition, the Nursery Unit has an optional "tic" feature. If the Sensor Pad senses movement, the Nursery Unit will continuously tick. If it doesn't, the ticking will stop. The two Parents' Units give you the flexibility of always leaving one in your bedroom while moving the second unit to the room you are in while your baby is sleeping.

Your crib must have a hard flat surface. If it does not, just place a piece of masonite or a board under the mattress and place the Sensor Pad on top of the masonite and under the mattress. Be sure to place the correct side of the Sensor Pad facing up.

Summary: Amazing product that gives peace of mind
Comment: As new parents we find that this product gives us great peace of mind. The product works perfectly and we've had only one false alarm since we've been using it. The only gripe some people may have is that there is a beeping that sounds almost like you are in a submarine, but you will grow used to it very quickly and it doesn't seem to bother our baby. Even though SIDS is a rare condition, I think it would be foolish for anyone to take the risk of a babies life for less than a hundred bucks. As for us we are sold on the product and have already recommended it to everyone we know.

Comment: This product gives us such peace of mind. I never have to worry when he is in his crib because the monitor will alarm if he stops moving (even breathing). We did receive one false alarm about a month or so after we started using it, but I was happy to know that my husband and I both awoke to it and upon checking on. It is such a great product I just bought it for a friend that would wake up to go in and check on her baby 3-4 times a night.

Comment: I LOVE the MOVEMENT SENSOR aspect of this monitor. I have used 2 of these (one in the crib for nighttime sleeping and one in the playpen for daytime naps) and they work GREAT at detecting when there is no movement/breathing. I used these with both my kids, up until they were both [...] and moved to big boy beds.

I only have two complaints. One is that I wish they would improve the monitors so that there is less interference/static, and more channels. With these monitors, you get lots of feedback and can even pick-up neighbors' babies (if they are using similar monitors). This means that the neighbors can also hear you and your baby. In fact, I always used Channel B because I kept picking up neighbors' babies on Channel A. My second complaint is I wish they would make the sensor that goes under the mattress bigger so that it covers more of the sleep area to prevent false alarms.

My workaround solution is that I also own 2 other monitors ... one with video and one with a greater frequency and less static (that I used in conjunction with this one) and carry around the house.

This monitor allowed me to get much needed rest and things done around the house without having to check the baby every 2 minutes to make sure he was still breathing. I wish more manufacturers would add the movement detection feature to their monitors.

Despite some of this monitor's shortcomings, I still HIGHLY recommend it. Worth EVERY penny for that piece of mind. If you buy more than one set, the monitors are interchangeable and work together nicely. In addition, it is small and easy to carry along with you when you travel. So, you can use it on vacations or when you are away from home, to monitor your baby for added peace of mind.

**PLEASE NOTE: You will need MASONITE BOARD, or some other hard board to place under the crib mattress for the movement sensor to sit on. With the playpen (because it had a hard bottom), I didn't need to use anything. I could just place the movement sensor directly under the pad.**

Summary: Great peace of mind
Comment: Product works as advertised... our new baby boy has to sleep on his tummy or he won't sleep at all, so we decided to try one of these out due to the studies showing that stomach sleepers are statistically more likely to suffer from SIDS. The product is super easy to use, we just plugged it in and turned it on. As long as you have a flat sturdy surface under the mattress, it detects even the slight motion produced by the baby breathing. And sure enough, if you take the baby out for a diaper change and forget to turn the unit off, it senses that motion has stopped, and sounds a loud alarm. We're four months into this, and only two false alarms so far, and both because the baby crawled into the corner of the crib farthest from the sensor. For the price, this product is SO worth the peace of mind it can bring. We bought two... one for home and one for Grandma's, where he stays two days a week.

IN SHORT... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
