Customer Rating: Summary: Eliane Elias Does It Again! Comment: "Dreamer" was released 2002 on RCA's Bluebird label and stands as one Elias' best to date. Her amazing piano playing is not really the main focus her like on so many of her recordings, but she does play some great improvisations, though short in length. The string orchestrations are also very well done. Absolutely beautiful.
There are two highlights for me "Call Me" and "A House Is Not A Home." Those two songs are the worth the price of admission, but this is not to say that the whole album isn't great. "Call Me" features some of the lyrical improvisations from Michael Brecker I've ever heard. I'm not a fan of him at all, but am quite shocked to him play with lyricism. He has a great tone on this song as well.
Here's a lineup of all the musicians: Oscar Castro-Neves, Guilherme Monteiro (guitar); Michael Brecker (tenor saxophone); Michael Mainieri(vibraphone); Marc Johnson (bass guitar); and Paulo Braga (drums).
If you're a fan of Eliane Elias, then I would suggest without hesitation to pick up this recording. If you're new to her music, I would start with "Kissed By Nature," "Plays Jobim," or "The Three Americas" first. These are fine introductions to her approach to music and her piano playing.
If you would like to hear her in a big band context, then pickup her collaboration with Bob Brookmeyer called "Impulsive." Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: You will love it! Comment: She is like Diana Krall or the gal from Ipanima come to life! I believe she is the lady who orginally sang on Stan Gezts album. Anyway she is amazing and you probably know that already, but if you don't, you won't be dissapointed. The CD is excellent!
I felt very lucky to find Eliane Elias, and you will be too!
Customer Rating: Summary: What can I say that hasn't already been said? Comment: Just add my five-star rating to the bunch and stamp a big "ditto" on this because everything everyone's saying about this album is true. Soft, seductive, soothing. That's this album.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't just sit there. Buy this. Comment: I have seven of her albums and this is her best. This is brilliantly arranged and beautifully accompanied. With Elaine's soft yummy voice and her elegant touch on the keys, she makes an ordinary song extraordinary. I particularly like Call Me, So Nice and That's All, but they are all great. Guys, put this on and you'll have their panties on the lampshade in no time. Enjoy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wonderful CD Comment: I saw Elaine in concert and immediately bought this record. Her voice and her piano playing are superb, and these subtle versions of well-known Brasilian music are superb
