At Mr. Rad's Warehouse the best hip-hop crews in Los Angeles compete for money and respect. But when a suburban crew crashes the party stealing their dancers-and their moves-two warring friends have to pull together to represent the street. Summary: Not as bad as others make it sound.
Comment: This is simply, a fun movie. If you are looking for a deep plot or the answers to life you are looking in the wrong place but if you just want something to entertain you I'd say its worth the watch.

Summary: You got served junk...suckaz!
Comment: I'll keep this review brief. This was easily the worst movie of 2004. The whole thing is about two kids whose dance crew is challenged by some preppy wanna-be-black suburbanites who steal the crew's moves thanks to a treacherous friend named Sonny. Omarion and Marques's character fall out over Omarion dating Marques's sister and things get more problamatic from then on. The acting is atrocious and the dance moves might be cool at first but get pretty mundane after a while. Omarion as well as Marques Houston cant act. Lil Kim looks like recovering heroine junkie and the attractive Jennifer Freeman(My Wife and Kids) is whiter than Jenny McCarthy. You can tell this was a vanity project for the suspiciously effeminate Chris Stokes. And it still bombed! If you're into a movie all about dancing then go right ahead but if you're looking for something more than a dull dance film with heavily edited dance scenes look elsewhere. You just got served suckaz!

Summary: SERVED WITH A SMILE
Comment: I've read some reviews of this movie that have really taken some shots at it. Before even sitting down to watch it, I had a preconceived notion that it was not going to be a black version of HAMLET. I thought that it would be a fluff piece about break dancers along the lines of ELECTRIC BOOGALOO. Instead, I found a movie that was a little bit fun and not to involving to command my attention. Nor did it infect me enough to run out and attempt to become involved in a hip hop dance battle. Instead I spent an enjoyable time watching a fun flick.

The story revolves around hip hop dance competitors, street fighters who take it to the local dance floor as opposed to the street. The favorite in Mr. Rad's place is led by two best friends, David (Omarian) and Elgin (Margues Houston). Friends since they were kids, the two have come up with a team that is unstoppable. When a challenge is issued by a group from Orange County, they readily accept and come up with the $5000 to face off.

The first of many problems comes up when it turns out that this group has hijacked one of their crew and he has taught them all of the moves that the group has been working on. After losing the title is offered up as the leader of this group tells them that "you got served". Oooo. Them's fighting words!

David takes an interest in Elgin's sister Liyah (Jennifer Freeman) which Elgin doesn't take to kindly too. He wants more for his sister, including the college degree she qualifies for.

David and Elgin take to running illegal items for the local mobster in an attempt to raise money to compete. But one night, David is busy with Liyah and Elgin is beaten and robbed, left with a broken leg. The dynamic duo part ways and a major rift between them develops.

With the crew now divided, it seems that neither can get to the point they want to be. And while each and every member takes a stab at getting them back together, their stubbornness rules out.

When a major competition comes along with the winner receiving $5,000 and a chance to be in the next Lil' Kim video, all the best teams get in on the action. Elgin brings his own team as does David. And across the way is the Orange County group. The face off begins with Elgin and his group taking on the name of a young kid who hung around the group ***SPOILER*** who was shot and killed because he couldn't hang out with the crew since the split.

Now the time has come for the battle to begin. A tie leads to a street rules face off. Will Elgin and David patch things up so they can win the competition? Will Elgin back off and let David and Liyah finally get together? Face it, the answer here is predictable. But that doesn't make a bit of difference.

Sure the movie is cut and paste, a compilation of themes and ideas from numerous movies. But that doesn't stop it from being a movie that is a lot of fun to watch. The dance moves that these groups come up with are amazing. And just watching them makes for half the fun of this film. Not only that, it is a tremendous pleasure to see a Hollywood film about young black males that doesn't involve them shooting one another in drive bys or sitting around doing nothing more than smoking pot. Even though the pair is stubborn, they make for a better role model than most black seen on film these days. Thank goodness the racial stereotypes that run rampant in films these days is not exhibited here.

Can the whole film watch this movie together? Some can. For smaller kids the drug references and the illegal activities David and Elgin go through (while minor) may be enough to keep kids out. But for the rest, look for an enjoyable film that does what movies should do first and foremost. It entertains.

Summary: THis movie is awesome!
Comment: What more can one movie have? The dialog is atrocious, the plot mundane and predictable, and the music blows. Maybe the dancing is good, I wouldn't know--it is certainly hard to keep track of.

So why five stars? Because if you love bad movies like I do, you have GOT to own it!

Lil' Kim is hilarious, albeit totally unintentionally. "We goin' take it to the streets!" Gawd, that is pure gold. Gold!

There's even a subplot about some little kid that ends up getting shot--with no emotional impact whatsoever. I read a post on a forum somewhere that a girl wrote and said her boyfriend teared up during that part in the theater (and she actually thinks this is a good movie) which just adds to the hilarity.

You could also use this for inspiriation if you are a screenwriter, as if THIS got made, your script will surely get picked up SOMEDAY.
