We have tasted sun-dried tomatoes from many different sources but none in our opinion, imported or domestic, compare in flavor to these. Grown in Virginia's lush Shenandoah Valley the tomatoes are picked at peak freshness assuring full sugar development and sweet robust flavor. They are slowly dried in temperature-controlled wind tunnels without any sulfites. Ours are also virtually salt-free containing less than 1 percent salt. Other sun-dried tomatoes contain as much as 20-22 percent salt. One taste will convince you of the difference. The grower and producer is a personal friend.

They stunk up my entire kitchen for weeks, until I finally threw them out without finishing them. In contrast, these sulfite-free tomatoes smell and taste like nothing but tomato. I am giving them four stars instead of five because they are so expensive-- I suppose all sun-dried tomatoes are expensive, but I hold out hope they will come down in price.
