Summary: Perfect jeans, pictured poorly.
Comment: Levi & Co. would behoove itself to photograph the 550 bootcut jeans in a less matronly way. Someone surfing alone online or via catalog would completely skip over great jeans based on truly awful pictures and poor descriptions. I'm an 8 medium, slender, fit and have no issues in terms of body structure (I'm not reviewing my hair, you'll notice). My issue is the mass of really crappy jeans on the market. Levi's 550 bootcut are an exception.
I have these jeans in the Indigo Bleached shade. Think "Favorite jeans worn regularly for 2 months"...that's the shade. Broken in, worn lovingly, put away smelling like clean clothes.
Levi describes the rise as "at waist" which just isn't so. They hit me about 3 inches south of the belly button and well above the jungle. A happy medium (mid-rise) with no gap along the back waistband. Rear pocket placement is butt-friendly.
The bootcut leg isn't overwhelming, just enough flare to add a nice balance. Note: 550 also comes in "tapered". Do yourself and your self esteem a favor and do not try on the tapered fit. Tapered fit jean designers should be forced from their bed, at dawn, made to wear Lee brand relaxed fit jeans with yoke pockets, purchased at the tractor supply store.
If you have memories of borrowing a boyfriend's 501's (back when his waist was slimmer) and loving that slightly slouchy fit, give 550 bootcut a spin. -Laurel825

Comment: These jeans fit me perfectly. The slight stretch allows me to wear them comfortably while riding my bicycle to the university. Then I look great all day. I like the way they ride just a little low off my waist. Then I can get a good fit through my hips and thighs and not have them pinch me in my waist.

Comment: These jeans flatter my, not so slim. figure. I did get a size larger than I normally wear and they fit great. They are comfortable and figure flattering. I am planning to get another pair that is not stretch as I may not need that feature.
