Spotlight customer reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: Could not work without it! Comment: I am pregnant with twins and work as an orthopedic surgical nurse. I began having sciatic pain, back pain and lower abdominal pressure early on in my pregnancy (at around 3mths). I had used a similar brace during my first pregnancy 4 yrs ago and it had helped. This brace has been a god send. It gives my body the added support I need in order to perform my demanding job. It has also helped with the added pains and pressures with having twins and growing at an accelerated pace. From the day I started using it many of my pains subsided or dissappeared. I can guarantee that I would not be able to work if I did not have this brace. D. Giusti, San Diego, CA 10/12/08 Customer Rating: Summary: The material is not very good Comment: After I read some of the reviews, I bought this product. I found the fabric was irritating to my skin. And the whole thing is quite stiff.
My midwife actually is developing a similar product with organic soft cotton that is really comfortable. Unfortunately it is not available in the market yet.
I think it is fine to use it on top of your clothes, but it is uncomfortable to use next to skin.
I returned it and got less than half of the money (minus shipping cost both ways and restocking charge). So next time, I will try to buy directly from Amazon.com if possible. Customer Rating: Summary: a huge help Comment: I am very far from my girlfriend and thus unable to help with many basic chores.. this belt has proven very useful in supporting her back in long walks and random tasks of cleaning, rearranging, and just her general mobility around the house and abroad. I'm sure she could make a much better review than I could, but, for me, it's enough to say that she hasn't been complaining of back troubles nearly as much (if at all) since receiving this product. Customer Rating: Summary: A Godsend! Comment: I have to start off by saying that I got the X-Large belt, and I wish I had gone a size smaller. Even with measuring at 42 weeks, it's still *almost* too big for me, and I'm a decently large lady! I normally wear a size 22.
I'm 36 weeks, and measuring at 42 weeks because of polyhydramnios. My baby is also posterior at this point. Because of these things, my belly is very, VERY big and heavy. My midwife suggested I get a support belt to help with turning the baby. I was skeptical at first...I'd had a belt with my last pregnancy and all it did was dig into my belly and hurt. I also used a Medela belt for about two weeks with this one. Same thing, and it would not stay in one place. She suggested I look up this one, and I'm really glad I went ahead and got it! I've been using it for about three weeks now.
Some things I love about this belt:
-It really stays put! The edges don't even curl.
-The belt is wide enough that it doesn't cut into my belly.
-It has really helped with my posture!
-The decrease in pain in my back, and even my lower belly, is phenomenal.
I just wish I'd bought the size smaller, because I can't even use the "upper belly" strap with this one. It's way too big. The benefits I *do* get are well worth it, though. Customer Rating: Summary: Lifesaver! Comment: I bought this based upon the other reviews I read and it has truly been a lifesaver. At only 18 weeks pregnant I was to the point where my sciatic pain was debilitating. I couldn't even go to the store and I'd have to come home straight from work and lie down the rest of the night. This belt has given me my life back. The pain is so much less than it used to be and I can walk and move around throughout the day ten times better than before. The material has not been irritating to me at all (and my skin is sensitive) and I don't have to re-adjust the belt multiple times during the day, which I was afraid of. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is having lower back pain or sciatic nerve pain.
