Comment: I took the filter out of the shipping box. I took the cover and prefilter off the unit and my 20 month old son took out the dirty old filter and placed the new one with verbal instruction from me. So easy a baby can do it! The hardest part was finding the filter for less that $90-$100. Thank goodness for FiltersFast and Amazon!

Comment: It's a piece of cake to pop out the old filter and put in a new one. You should definately do it at least once a year. My old filter started to smell after only 9 months. When I removed it, it was brown! Good thing I changed it.
