Summary: Great Movie
Comment: This movie is very well done, not long enough and it can show today's film industry what a good movie is about. It teaches about different virtues and difficulties that come with the decision of following Christ. Today's society is carachterized by the absence of God even though most people say they belive in God, we don't act like we do.
The main actor is pretty good and so are the rest. Is well directed and the photograpy is excellet.

Comment: If you want to enjoy a very pleasant time, view the Cardinal. It covers a period during the the 20th century in a way that is both educational and entertaining. The acting is excellent and the story holds one throughout.

Summary: An Ecclesial Epic...
Comment: "The Cardinal" is an excellent film. It covers the life of a young, intelligent American Priest who goes through various personal and societal challenges and eventually ascends to the Cardinalate. This film is very modern with the issues it addresses (abortion, racism, etc.) and the characters are not one-sided. Tom Tyron plays a very human Priest who struggles at times to be obedient as a Priest yet his fidelity and orthodoxy carry him through, a testament to his character.

Summary: Morality wins the day
Comment: The Cardinal is a gripping portrait of a young man's rise from priest to cardinal overcoming obstacles of faith and politics. Always a rising star the young religious scholar has to face tough choices that test his faith. It is his decision to remain faithful to his vows even at the expense of his pregnant sister and his own personal demons. Despite politics of the Vatican he acheives the ultimate reward for his convictions. He avoids the hypocrisy of the church in matters of belief. He brings honor and honesty to a position that sometimes lowers itself to the least common denominator of expediency. It is a redeeming experience even for those with questionable belief in the church.
