Introducing the revolutionary BRK 9120 series smoke alarms which have been redesigned from the ground up. They install faster, perform better, and are even smarter than before. All of these improvements help reduce nuisance alarms and save you time and money. BRK Electronics smoke alarms are designed to be easy to install, easy to maintain, and quality-engineered for years of virtually maintenance-free service. The 9120B AC-powered smoke alarm with battery backup includes these features: - Ionization sensor which helps detect fast flaming fires that consume combustible materials rapidly.
- 120-volt AC inter-connectable (with maximum 18 compatible devices). The alarm can be interconnected with up to 12 other compatible smoke alarms and six compatible devices like bells, horns, repeaters and door closers. If one unit triggers an alarm, all smoke alarms in the series will sound. Power indicators show which unit in the series initiated the alarm.
- Latching alarm indicator which automatically identifies which unit initiated the alarm.
- Smart technology to reduce nuisance alarms.
- 9-volt battery backup for peace of mind during power malfunction.
- Single test/silence button which both silences a non-threatening alarm or low battery warning and allows you to test the unit's functionality.
- Perfect mount system including a gasketless base for easy installation and new mounting bracket that keeps the alarm secure over a wide rotation range to allow for perfect alignment.
- Mounting bracket lock for tamper resistance.
- Dust cover to keep unit clean during construction.
- 10-year limited warranty.
All BRK Electronics smoke alarms meet UL 217 standard and are listed with the California State Fire Marshal. They use the new UL mandated repeating 85-decibel alarm horn pattern. 10-year limited warranty. This unit is approved for sale in Oregon after new revisions on law HB2586.--Bree NorlanderWhat's in the Box One smoke alarm, one 9-volt battery, and user's manual

Customer Rating: Summary: The Day the Firemen Came - Twice Comment: My husband was in Boston, I'm home with the children. All smoke detectors started going off. Spend 30 minutes looking for nonexistant fire. Can't get the $*%&^^$ things to stop. After 40 minutes of trying to stop the stupid things, I call the fire department - they come and find defective smoke detector in basement. Firemen leave. Twenty minutes later, smoke detectors go off again. Again, can't get the $*%&*#$ things to stop. Again call the fire department - now the one in the upstairs hall is defective.
We now have three or four missing smoke detectors. Husband just got on Amazon to replace smoke detectors. He calls me in here to read all of the negative reviews because he thinks they are funny. Wanna know what I think is funny? Even though he's read everyone else's reviews HE NOW WANTS TO REPLACE THE MISSING SMOKE DETECTORS WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE SMOKE DETECTORS AS OPPOSED TO REPLACING ALL OF THEM WITH SOMETHING ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone, please, shoot me now.
Customer Rating: Summary: Found a fix for chirping problems Comment: Most reviewers report random chirping. In my case, I replaced the battery and couldn't get it to stop chirping every minute, until I found this advice elsewhere on the web:
1. Unplug detector from power (or flip circuit breaker)
2. Remove battery
3. Hold down Test button for 20 seconds
4. Replace battery
5. Turn power/breaker back on
This stopped mine from chirping every minute. Give it a try on yours.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Product Comment: I had an older version of this product that needed to be replaced. The new product was delivered when I expected and had all the parts I needed to install it. Installation was simple and straightforward.
Customer Rating: Summary: Flimsy Comment: My beef with this product is that the sliding compartment for the battery is very poorly made. It jams easily, breaks easily, and chips easily. The battery doesn't always hit the leads, even if you've gotten it in, so the thing keeps on chirping. It is difficult to change a battery without some kind of mishap, such as the battery not wanting to fit, or the compartment getting stuck at the base of the hinge. Some amount of force is often called for, but then you risk pieces of plastic breaking off. I've tried removing the alarm from its mounting just to make it easier to replace the battery, but at 4:00 a.m., this is just another major annoyance that should be necessary.
Customer Rating: Summary: Piece of junk Comment: I purchased this product under the name of First Alert Model SA300, which is distributed by BRK Brands in Aurora, IL.
Less than a year ago, we installed this unit in our basement. Two nights ago, it chirped its 'low battery' signal. I de-mounted the unit and purchased a 9V alkaline battery. While attempting to re-install the replacement battery, I noticed just how cheaply the unit is made. The battery 'carousel' which opens to the side closes 'loosely'; as a result, the battery does not have an opportunity to make appropriate contact with the circuit board within.
What I now have is a strange-looking paperweight which is good for nothing. In essence, I purchased a 'use it once, throw it away' product. Because of this dissatisfaction, I will not buy another First Alert product, and I intend to show our local Fire Department this defective unit.
