"Quite a few directors share and reflect the youthful rebellion and pop culture of their own generation. Penelope Spheeris is unique in that she uses her counter-culture sympathies to explore the lives, music, and attitudes of the new younger generation. You can see this in her movies. After documenting the punk scene in THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION, she made SUBURBIA for me, in which she explored the world of alienated suburban teenagers, and later had a huge hit with WAYNE'S WORLD." -- Roger Corman~~When family problems and a sense of worthlessness overcome Evan, he finds escape with the orphans of a throwaway society. Calling themselves T.R. ("The Rejected"), these runaways hold on to one another like family, living in abandoned houses away from the society that despises them. SUBURBIA is THE punk rock movie, depicting with unbridled realism the lives, loves, and misfortunes of a discarded youth

Customer Rating: Summary: I love this movie Comment: It has been so long since I had last seen this movie, but it was still fun. This is one of the greatest punk genre films ever. The acting is kind of crappy, but that is definately part of the appeal. Very happy with this purchase.
Customer Rating: Summary: "Wake Up & Smell the Coffee Man!!!!" thats PUNK ROCK Comment: This is a true to life film about the PunkRock scene and is about as close as you can get to the real thing. The Shows, the Fights, Loitering, and Friends committing suicide, O.D.ing , and various other forms of death. Aaah, The Memories!
Where has the time gone?!
Squating in abandoned buildings in LA, Orange, and Ventura county's was the norm back then.
If you are PunkRock still, like Punk Rock, or just want to know what its all about, well this should clue you in. And yes Jack Grisham is the Sh#t!
Watching this film is like going into a time warp .
I miss my skateboard like a baby bottle, and the punkrock shows.
Alas I am a geriatric old man now.
Time for a Nap!
Customer Rating: Summary: Junk, not Punk Comment: This is the kind of movie that only a very stupid person would take seriously or consider important. I first saw "Suburbia" in the '80's and not even my dumbest friends, the ones who actually wished they were Pony Boy in "The Outsiders", could relate to the lowlife morons depicted therein.
The "us versus them" struggle of the punks against the straight suburbanites is lifted straight out of a 1950's rock n' roll, juvenile delinquent teensploitation film. And while there is much ado over the fact that REAL LIVE STREET KIDS, and not processed, pampered Hollywood types were cast, the film suffers even more for their non-existant acting skills.
I know that nobody keen on buying this film is going to be swayed by a scathing review written by someone they've never met, but don't say I didn't warn you.
Customer Rating: Summary: Memories Comment: I remember watching this all the time when I was a teen... back on VHS and what-not. Its about time its released on DVD. I hate buses!
Customer Rating: Summary: Flash back. Comment: I watched this movie when I was a teenager (oh- about 100 years ago). I loved it then for the music and the kids who were in it. They were the same kids I hung out with, only on the west coast. Living life with no rules or discipline. Not to mention Flea was in it- a good reason to buy any movie. I just purchased it for my own teenage daughter who loves it as much as I do. Times may change but kids never do.
