Customer Rating: Summary: Massage Those Aches Away Comment: After some research, I discoverd the Discover Shiatsu Massage Cushion. It is the same massage cushion as the Homedics SBM-300, but with the Discover Store name. When I realized I could get this massage cushion for about $30 less from Discovery Store than from Homedics, I was sold. I really like the shiatsu style massaging. I have the massage pad sitting in a task chair and I use it after a long day at work while I'm checking my personal e-mail. I like to utilize my time as efficiently as possible. So I am able to do two things at once.
ABOUT THE PRODUCT: You have the option for the shiatsu to rotate and move up and down your back, up and down the upper part of your back, or up and down the lower part of your back. The other choice you have is just for the "nobs" to move up and down the upper, lower, or full back. With this feature, you can adjust the nob width so that it will go right along those muscles that are lateral to your spine. The seat portion of the massage pad has a 3-speed "massage" but it's more like vibration.
WISH LIST: The only thing I would have liked to have on this massage pad is some heat, but if you sit there for a little bit, you do get warmed up because your blood is circulating and it has a vinyl cover for the massage pad. But, this vinyl pad does not make you too hot. The other thing is that the massage will only be on for a little while, I guess that's a safety feature so the motor doesn't burn out.
OVERALL: It's a great product, especially for the price. I had wanted one of these massage pads for a long time, but didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on it. I feel the cost of the product is equivalent to the value of the product.

If you're interested in the specs, it's the HoMedics SBM-300 Shiatsu Plus. This product is superior to other back massagers because the Shiatsu massage mechanism is so powerful. It is an upgrade from the HoMedics SBM-200 Shiatsu because this product has the following massage programs: Shiatsu (full, upper, lower) and Rolling (full, upper lower). This one also allows you to "Spot Shiatsu," adjust the width of the Rolling massage, and includes a three intensity vibrating seat, which the HoMedics SBM-200 Shiatsu does not have. HoMedics recently came out with a new back massage product, the QRM-400 Quad Roller. I tried this one, but don't recommend it over this product. It has an entirely different massaging mechanism that is inferior to the impressive HoMedics SBM-300 Shiatsu Plus.
Note: on the HoMedics website the HoMedics SBM-300 Shiatsu Plus is shown with a grey (instead of black) cover. This particular Discovery Channel version of the SBM-300 Shiatsu Plus is in the classic black of the other HoMedics massage cushion products. Good call of Discovery Channel's part since the grey coverings are unappealing.
