Customer Rating: Summary: Best keyboard for MAC ! Comment: Very nice keyboard and mouse, especially the mouse. Works great with MAC, except one thing that the brightness adjustment button does NOT work. I dont know why. There's no driver for this if you use Windows on a MAC.
Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect Set for my Macbook Comment: I decided to get a keyboard and mouse set so I wouldn't have to sit so up close anymore to my laptop. This was definitely worth it!
This keyboard feels really nice to type with and removes the need for the "fn" key which the wireless Apple keyboard has.
The keys feel like any other keyboard, and the keypad is great too.
The software that you can get from Logitech is great in its ability to allow you to customize many aspects of the set, including the keys on the mouse. Since I found the audio changing things useless, I just switched them off for the Next/Previous Tab and Close Window hotkeys.
When I went to Windows under Bootcamp, the mouse worked perfectly after installing the Windows version of the Logitech software. It detected it as an MX500 and allowed me to do the customizations desired. The keyboard was not detected, but the keys did their general functions: Home page, Email, Volume, etc. Which was good enough for me in Windows.
My only complaints about this keyboard and mouse is this:
The keyboard does not have a Caps Lock light, which doesn't bother me as much since I'm really good typer, but my girlfriend didn't realize she kept typing in the wrong password.
The volume changing on a mouse is almost useless IMO, but they still have the pictures on the mouse. It would be preferable if those pictures weren't there.
Also, the USB dongle that it came with did not match what was in the picture, instead it's a big black chunky one.
Regardless, this is still a really sexy, functional, and amazing keyboard mouse combo.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works fairly well and is as advertised Comment: I really like this keyboard and mouse combo for use with my 17 inch iMac. It works well and feels good to type. However, My one setback on this item is that the "hotkey" functionality does not go across user accounts. You must set it up on each account for it to work. Overall I like the keyboard and mouse though.
Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect Comment: Nice slim profile, matches the look of my Mini and is very comfortable to use. Nice shortcut keys, easy to set up and no problems. Great product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Keyboard, Great Value Comment: I bought this keyboard (and mouse) from one of the Amazon Merchants. It was about $12 less than the new price quoted above (October 2008) including shipping. Unlike some other reviewers I have no complaints. I downloaded the latest software and the keyboard and mouse control panel (located as one of the System Preferences), and it worked just fine with my OS 10.4. It was easy to reassign the buttons on the mouse. I reset the two thumb buttons on the side to Apple-key [ and Apple-key ] which are Back and Forward in Safari and other browsers.
To reset mouse buttons or keys on the keyboard, click on the Desktop, and in the Finder, pull down the menu, select SYSTEM PREFERENCES and on the bottom row labeled OTHER, select LOGITECH CONTROL CENTER.
Click on the picture of the mouse or keyboard. The CONFIGURE button is now active, and click it. Select the button or key you wish to reassign, and at the far right of that row, you'll see an up-arrow and a down-arrow. When you click either, you'll see a number of selections. You can even select an application to launch.
You can also adjust the scrolling speed and distance and acceleration using the standard KEYBOARD AND MOUSE control panel on the HARDWARE row of SYSTEM PREFERENCES. (I think it might be nice for Logitech to include these controls and F-Key assignments on a future version of their software.)
As this is a wireless keyboard and mouse, I was very concerned about the amount of battery drain. The keyboard uses two AAA and mouse uses 2 AA batteries. In 4 months of use, I've had to replace the two generic AA alkaline mouse batteries once but the keyboard is still running on the first pair. Make sure you always have a couple of spares of each, as there is no alternative way to use the keyboard and mouse with dead batteries. (That is, you can't convert them to a wired set.)
The feel of the keyboard and mouse is just right to my fingers. There is a very soft audible and tactile click when you use either. I call this "The Goldilocks Effect." It feels "just right."
This is an excellent improvement on the wired keyboard and mouse which come with iMac. I have no experience with the Apple wireless set.
If there were one feature I would ask Logitech to add, it would be some indicator that the CAPS LOCK were engaged. I understand why it is omitted to save battery life. It's the only feature I missed, and I don't miss it enough to complain.
Thanks for reading my very wordy review.
