Utilizing the latest LED technology, the Malibu outdoor metal bollard four-light solar-powered light kit provides light to mark entrances, walkways and darkened areas at night. The fixture stays on up to 10 hours. The remote solar panel provides more power than typical solar lights and can be conveniently placed anywhere. The sun charges the batteries by day and turns on automatically at night with no wiring or cost to operate. Each fixture comes with two LED lights and three NiMH AA rechargeable batteries. The clear, impact resistant globe provides long-lasting durability. With black metal construction in a bollard style and a bright white LED bulb, the fixture adds beauty, security, and safety to your yard. What's in the Box Four bollard-style fixtures, four 20-foot power leads, solar panel, and rechargeable batteries.

Customer Rating: Summary: Love them! Comment: I bought set about a week ago. I have to say, I am impressed. I have many other solar lights in my gardens but these are to light pathway to my door. The light is more than than I had expected, I am buying another set. They are great!
Customer Rating: Summary: very pleased Comment: Bought these last year but as we were moving, we only set them up recently. We're very pleased with them and plan to order another set, but they're now selling for twice as much as we bought them so we're waiting. They are very elegant and simple, the construction is solid and they look very pretty in our garden. They're a snap to install. We prefer the white-blue light to the yellow you often find with these lights. We did replace the batteries with others of better quality.
Customer Rating: Summary: Looks nice, questionable reliability Comment: These lights look great; high-quality construction of glass and aluminum. You install 4 rechargeble batteries underneath the powersupplier with solar panel on top. The battery compartment is very touchy. Once the batteries are in place, I had to tap on the battery cover to get it to work. If I disturb the batteries moderately (e.g., a knock), it'll stop working and I have to go through the tapping routine again. I used 4 duracell rechargeables (instead of the ones supplied) because I didn't think those were powerful enough. After about 2 months, the batteries were rusted. There's something wrong in the design: it drains water from the solar panel into the battery compartment. I changed the way the panel is angled, put in 4 new ones, and they seem to be working ok for the last 3 months. I don't want to open it up to see whether these batteries are rusted because I don't want disturb it. Another thing, we live in Southern Calif, the winter sun here is barely enough to light these lights. I'm thinking about wiring them to an electrical source. Maybe not.
Customer Rating: Summary: Malibu Outdoor Metal Bollard Comment: This is a nice looking set however it does not always light up, the metal dent real easy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good enough when they work, but quality control is lacking! Comment: I bought two sets of these from Amazon when they were last on sale for $39, and at that price these are pretty decent little lights - if they work. One of the two sets I received had a defective solar panel, and while Intermatic (Malibu) replaced it, the process was annoying. There's a number to call for replacement parts, but it's only active at certain hours and if you call outside those hours they direct you to a website that is not working! Their regular website directs you to the phone number.
All that aside, these lights are essentially like fat little flashlights that you stick into the ground. A reflector directs the light back down toward the base. Each light has two LEDs in it, and when the batteries are fully charged they put out enough light to mark the edge of a path or driveway -- but they are not suitable for wide area illumination. As others have noted, the batteries supplied with the set are pretty wimpy; they last only a few hours into the night. But for about $2 each you can get better batteries (2000+ MAH) to replace them. Also, the tip about lining the cylinders with something shiny is a good one; it will boost the light output noticeably.
So, overall, I'd give these lights three stars - four if you get a set with no problems. Wait for them to go on sale again!
