Comment: The good:
- I bought it for FAST as a novelty, but it's pretty cool and works well.
- Blade is pretty sharp as it was shipped, looks to be of good quality.
The bleh:
- The body feels cheap. I realize it's plastic to keep the weight down but it doesn't inspire much confidence. At least it feels snugly fit together.
- The safety feels even cheaper, with no real satisfying click going to the on or off position.
- As another reviewer mentioned you have to push at a certain angle to make the blade open as easily as possible, say about the 10 o'clock position if you're holding the knife upright.
It's a neat little knife, though I'd probably be carrying my older gerber (unsure what model, it has an aluminum body and is a little larger) if the belt clip hadn't fallen off.

Comment: I find this knife difficult to open,the safety mechanism is awkward and you have to push against the blade stud at just the right angle to enact the FAST system.It takes me both hands, the design just doesn't work for me.I do like the blade size and shape.I feel it's not a good buy.

Comment: Be forewarned, this is a small knife. If you have large paws, you'll likely have problems. However such problems are not the fault of the knife or the manufacturer.
That stated, this is an truly excellent little knife. The straight blade comes sharp and can be worked to an astoundingly sharp edge that lasts a good long time. The assisted opening is the greatest feature. Like many, I started opening it with my thumb, but found that using my fore finger was a better, faster, easier method.
Many have commented on the size of the release "button". It is relatively small, but recall, we're dealing with a small knife. The advantage of opening with the forefinger is that you can keep your thumb on the release. I find that mine goes into the "safe" position accidentally.
All in all, one of the best small knives I've owned.

Summary: Gerber Fast a must have
Comment: If you are a knife person you have to purchase the Gerber FAST draw knife. This is the closes thing to a legal switch blade. Using the thumb knob flick the knife and the spring takes over and opens the knife. Everyone I show this knife wants to know where I got it and if it is leagal. Nice job on this one Gerber!!! Thanks Amazon!!
