Kecap manis (Indonesian sweet soy sauce), also known as ketjap manis, is a thick soy sauce sweetened with palm sugar. The sauce is very thick (like molasses) and dark in color. It's used to flavor various hot and cold Indonesian dishes and is used as a condiment and marinade. The finest quality, ABC Brand, well-known in Indonesia. Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect Ingredient Comment: We were introduced to this soy sause from a friend in Bali. I was thrilled to find we could purchase it on the internet. Kecap Manis Sweet Soy Sause is the perfect addition to teriyake marinades for chicken, beef and fish. The thick sweetness brightens marinades and also adds a perfect thickner to glazes. I use this sause (as it is sweeter and thicker) to regular soy sause. I love the fact that it comes in big bottles, and through this venue is reasonably priced! Will be making another order soon! Wonderful over steamed rice ~

Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent palm-sugar soy sauce for marinating and grilling Comment: I use this as a marinade and basting sauce when grilling satay, steak, pork, salmon, and chicken. Make an easy satay marinade by combining Mae Ploy brand Yellow Curry Paste ( high in lemon grass ), lime juice, creamy peanut butter, some sambal olek (or substitute red chili flakes), and a little canned coconut milk ( optional ).
Friends that have tried it love it. I tell them I do not really think of it as a condiment, however, I sometimes pour in a small drizzle on rice or use as a dipping sauce. It is a molasses-like combination of palm sugar and soy sauce. I always try to keep some in stock in my kitchen.
Customer Rating: Summary: Delicious, Surprising Comment: This is richer and more complex than your average (U.S.) grocery store soy sauce. Think of the difference between Guiness and a lager, both beer, but worlds apart.
This is an excellent marinade, stir fry sauce, and barbeque base. I really enjoy it on rice with a little butter too.
Customer Rating: Summary: Just got back from Indo looking for the real deal... Comment: We just got back from Bali and was looking for the Bali "Kecup" checked my local market- Cost Plus etc and was unable to find it. Thought about where on line I could find this unique product and thought of Amazon. Looked and foudn the sauce and it is perfect- - time for some Nasi Goreng!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Nasty.... Comment: This is nasty. It's thick like molasses and I didn't care for it at all. I found sweet soy sauce at Ralph's (King Soopers) and it's a lot better.
