An epilator isn't a shaver in the traditional sense. An epilator pulls hair out at root level and is effective for nearly 4 weeks. It's sort of like electrolysis but is safer and can be done in the comfort of your home. It's as effective as waxing but can be used on parts of their body where waxing might be impractical. Braun 5270 Silk Epil X`elle Body System is faster and more efficient than other epilators. It's both comfortable and practical to use.

Comment: This epilator works great. I removed hair from both of my arms in less than ten minutes. You don't have to go over areas several times. The light feature on this apparature is really useful and helps me not miss even the smallest hairs.

Comment: i wasn't impressed. it broke off hairs more than plucking them out. so i was left with stubble and a painful experience. i'm disappointed that i payed $70 dollars for this when it didn't work the first time.

Comment: I purchased this product a week ago in hopes that I would be able to stop shaving, and be able to go longer periods in between hair removal. Both of my roommates epilate, so I figured I would try it again (it has been years). I spent a good 3 hours of tooth-grinding pain removing my body hair. I did my legs, arms, underarms, and most of my bikini zone.
This was a week ago, and my forearms still are covered in bumps.... It looks like I have chickenpox or something similar. I have not gotten any ingrowns (yet), but a few of the bumps on my arms pimpled up. It took multiple passes to remove most of the hair, which I then had to go at with tweezers. The bikini zone was torture, so I switched it up a bit and went to my underarms. At first it wasn't too bad, then it started to REALLY hurt. I have a VERY high tolerance for pain, but this was really excruciating...
So, I took a few aspirin and waited about 30 minutes. It didn't seem to help at all and a large portion of the hair under my arms was still there, but the pain was too great. I decided to put the epilator away for the next day.
The rest of that day, my underarms were a deep, vivid red color and I couldn't put on a shirt. I tried deodorant. Big mistake - it BURNED! When I woke up the next morning, my underarms were still red along with some scabbing. This continued for 3 days.
I spoke with a friend about it that owns a spa, and she begged me to return the epilator, even though I was planning on actually giving it another try - because all the reviews say it gets easier. I have thin, light hair (being a blonde), and thought about it a while - and determined that I never had a hair problem, so the torture really isn't worth not having to shave.
I would say stick to shaving, waxing, Nair-ing, or laser removal - epilating is just not for me :/

Summary: Great epilator
Comment: I've used braun epilator for the past 8 years, they are the best way to epilate as I personally hate waxing/shaving. I got this one couple of years back. Epilator is the quickest and hassle free product that lasts for years. It only pains slightly, once you have used it few times, its really no big deal. The light is a great addition to this version. Only negative point is the sound it makes, if that can be reduced then great.

Summary: Great replacement
Comment: I recently purchased this as a replacement for my Emjoi Gold Caress. I had used the Emjoi for about 5 years, but for several months I noticed it's motor seemed to slow down and it wasn't doing as good a job getting the hairs out.
I was really pleased with this product. My Emjoi may have been as good at getting the hairs when I first got it, but this product may be even better. It seems to get even the finest hairs. Pain isn't a problem, since I've been epilating for years now, but I did notice pain where my old unit had been missing hairs.
I'm very happy with it, and would recommend it highly.
