Customer Rating: Summary: Sprouted in just 3 days Comment: The seeds sprouted within 3 days just like it said and within a week tripled in size. Arugula is one of my favorite salad greens but I always have a tough time keeping them alive in my outdoor garden. So far it looks like the plants are going to thrive in the Aerogarden!
Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointed with this kit. Comment: This is the first Aerogarden kit that I have not been pleased with. My two Cilantro pods did not sprout at all. I contacted Aerogarden and they said there is a known issue with the Cilantro and they are investigating ways to fix it. I would not recommend purchasing this kit until they work out the problem.
The other herbs are growing just fine. The Epazote is growing like crazy- although I'm not sure what to cook with it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Second try and the tomatoes still died Comment: My first batch died after a couple weeks of growing to about 1.5 inches; the company was very quick in replacing all three plants, however the next batch did the same thing. I don't know what is wrong with the tomatoes, my herb garden in my other aerogarden is growing so much that I'm throwing away basil to keep it under control. Also have tried on another set to grow cilantro with no success even after trying to transplant from a very small potted plant, similar failure with trying strawberries. I'm getting the impression that aerogrow is really good for growing their standard herb package and nothing else.
Customer Rating: Summary: Growing as predicted Comment: We've previously used other aerogrow seed pod kits and have been pleased with the product. The the most recent purchase and results of the salsa garden kit have been as predicted, all plants are growing well and healthy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Gourmet Herb - mixed success - poor selection Comment: My herbs initially grew far slower than the instruction book indicated. However, once they did get going - wow! I am having to clip every few days. I am using the classic aerogarden.
There are a few disappointments, however. The choice to replace cilantro is really a disappointment, as it is an herb I use far more frequently than thyme. The basil is very overwhelming - two varieties are just too much. I can grow this one outside no problem, so I would have appreciated more delicate herbs. In any event, I feel like I am really wrangling with it to keep it from shadowing the others. The parsley has failed to grow very thickly, which gives me only a little every few weeks. The biggest disappointment are the chives. Only a few sprouted, maybe enough for 1 person every few weeks. Now that I think about it, the basil and mint are the only plants that have truly grown satisfactorily. Honestly, I would hesitate to buy this particular kit again. Instead, I will stick with the cherry tomato kit for the winter and probably the salad greens in the summer.
