Omron Body Fat Monitor Model: HBF-400 Omron developed optimal algorism through hundreds of data collection to provide better accuracy than other scale manufactures. This body fat monitor with scale is designed for family use with large display and 4 persons profile memory. It provide weight up to 330 lb, % body fat with 0.1% increments, BMI with previous reading. Chrome metallic giving upgraded image in bathroom. Bio impedance method: Body fat and muscle tissue have different levels of electrical conductivity. The Fat Loss monitor with Scale sends a safe, low-level electrical current through your body to calculate the amount of body fat tissue. This is known as the Bio-Impedance method. DXA and MRI have been the established method for accurate evaluation of body composition. Omron conducted the data collection from several hundreds people that reflects US population to develop the optimal algorithm. Even it takes long time and requires huge investment, quality/quantity of data collection is directly related to accuracy level. Only Omron is collecting MRI data for better accuracy. Many other body fat monitors are probably using poor equation w/o collecting enough actual data. Summary: Used it for seven months. Very consistent
Comment: Seems like the bad reviews resulted from higher fat and lower muscle readings than what was expected. I can't compare accuracy to other equipment. I can say that if you use it as a reference you will be very satisfied.
For the seven months that I've used it, the results have been consistent. It's been a great tool for losing fat weight and keeping muscle.
The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the memory. It may store 90 readings, but you can only view readings from three, seven, 30, and 90 days ago. So instead of using the stored memory, I enter readings into a spreadsheet.

Comment: My scale arrived in about 3 days. It was simple to set up and I was weighing myself right away. The weight seemed accurate. The other functions I assume are working ok. The good thing about having my own scale with a body fat measurement, is once I get a baseline bodyfat reading I can alway refer back to this as the scale should read my body fat consistently. I am very happy with my scale. Also, great price. Much better than any in traditional stores.
