Customer Rating: Summary: This is a winner Comment: WIth oil [rices going up, blah, blah blah... it was time to get a heater that did a good job of heating my aprtment without costing a fortune. THis heater does it. I have3 a 700 sq. ft. apartment and after an hour it's heated. The thermostat works great. I am thrilled I got this heater and it measures up to the DeLonghi quality standard.
Customer Rating: Summary: Subtle heat, nice design Comment: Sealed heaters don't produce a lot of heat quickly (unlike fan-driven heaters), but they are definitely quieter. Think of it as a mini version of a radiator in an older apartment building and you'll get the idea. In this unit, you can vary the output by turning on or off the red switches (I labeled mine with a Sharpie so I wouldn't have to drag out the instructions each time), and has a little analog timer so you can tell it to start or stop heating at a given time of day. The timer isn't terribly precise, but it does the job, and won't lose its memory after a power outage. FAIR WARNING: It stinks, literally, when you first plug it in. The instructions say it will smell funny or even smoke the first time you turn it on. They don't tell you it'll stink up the whole basement, and that it takes a week of running 24/7 to get rid of the worst of it. Based on our experience, I suggest running it in a well-ventilated garage or enclosed patio for a week or two first. Once that's done, it'll be a good little heater (my cat who thinks she's a heat-sink loves to snooze near it.)
Customer Rating: Summary: Works Great Comment: I have a room in the house that's at the "end of the run" for the furnace. This heater worked great to keep the room as warm as the rest of the house. The Temp setting, and Timer option allowed me to only run at night (when it gets colder) without having to remember to turn it on/off every day. On the low setting, it keep the room warm, but was not too hot to touch (so the kids would not burn themselves on it).
Customer Rating: Summary: Stopped working after under warranty repair Comment: I liked the product to heat up the bathroom in the morning. It also kept the bathroom dry and the towels warm. It stopped working at 11 months, was sent for repair under warranty and then worked again for 3 months. Not worth sending in for another repair even if covered. Will look for another heater.
Customer Rating: Summary: Exactly what I bought Comment: I live in the cold, shady part of our apartment building, and our room was very old with little to none insulation. Trying to get out of the bed in the morning is hard enough already, but with a biting chill in the air made it next to impossible. Once I got through the day of an odd smell, which it's supposed to, this radiator worked like a charm, with an easy to figure out timer that made it all worthwhile.
I will say the manual is a little hard to read, with a few "lost-in-translations", and it's tough to figure out exactly the effect of the "Power Economizer", but it was never an issue. Plus the heating levels are arbitrarily labeled "1-6", instead of degrees. After a week, I found out I like 4.
Summary:
Other than a few issues on the manual and thermostat use, this comes highly recommended.
