Editorial Reviews:

This is the IMPROVED Breeze SleepGear system from Puritan Bennett. In response to patient feedback the already innovative and popular Breeze SleepGear system has received some welcome enhancements: 1. Improved Hose Guide design constructed from MUCH STRONGER materials, 2. Halo Straps can be positioned on the Hose Guide for greater flexibility and a more secure fit, 3. Thicker, more comfortable padding on the cradle pad at the back of the headgear increases comfort, 4. Cuff added to swivel adapter to make disconnecting the interface quick and easy. The Breeze SleepGear Nasal Interface System provides the comfort of a custom fit, with multiple adjustments and Nasal Pillows size options to choose from. Unlike traditional headgear and masks, there are no confining straps to contend with. The integrated one-piece design floats over the face and contours the head. The Nasal Pillows assembly quickly snaps in and out of the interface.

Summary: Totally unobtrusive to the wearer
Comment: Okay, I admit that I resemble some sort of insane electric elephant while using this thing. However, it's saved my life so I don't make as much a fuss over appearance as I used to. Besides, the Breeze with the "nasal pillows," (sounds so comforting, eh? What a shame they don't tell the truth and call them "nose plugs.) anyway, the Breeze with the nasal pillows is the most comfortable, least obtrusive option out there for those of us with that nasty habit in bed. (No, not that one!) I mean the nasty habit of forgetting to breathe while sleeping, and then having our oxygen deprived body scream for air and make us pull in all the air we can as quickly as possible, resulting in a gasping snore. For most of us, the person we sleep with is going to demand that we get a sleep study and find out "what the heck is going on, you snore so loudly!!" Some of us have the memories of being kicked out of the group tent at scout camp, changing college roommates like socks, and having boyfriends laugh that they couldn't dream of snoring like that. I didn't fit the "fat, middle aged guy" profile, either. I was 25 years old, female, and 115 lbs, and I had been snoring like the proverbial freight train since I was five.

After I was diagnosed, I think I tried every kind of headgear that my Durable Medical Supplier had or could order, hoping for one that didn't look too horrible. For a long, long time, I wore monstrosities with chin straps and head straps and strange cups that kept my nose under a cup, rather like pheasant under glass.
Then, my sleep consultant let me kow that there was a new option out there: The Breeze! I tried it and was hooked. Instead of a mesh of belts and straps with a disgusting nose cup, the Breeze is a single adjustable strap that goes from the back your head to your face. It ends in two nose plugs, which you need to carefully align each night before sleeping. Your nostrils aren't round, and neither are the holes in the nasal pillows. Take a mirror and see how your nostrils are oriented: straight up and down, almost horizontal or something inbetween. Using the right size nose pillows and aligning them properly is the key to having the Breeze work for you. Most sleep techs think that everyone needs a large pillow - that's not necessarily so. I wear a small. Just try all the pillows that come with the Breeze mask and align them properly. That's all you need to make the Breeze comfortable. All the other straps, etc, are for your convenience and for "insurance" against tossing and turning. Use only as much of the strapping as you need to feel comfortable. Once you have that, you don't need to make make adjustments at all. Just remove and wash the nose plugs every day or so. Your maintenance only takes a few minutes.

Using a CPAP used to mean a nightmare of oxygen tanks, a tight hood with a nose cup protruding from it, and waking up with a bruise around your nose. With the Breeze, you barely get mussed hair. When your insurance lets you try a new interface with your CPAP, give the Breeze a try. I'm certain you will find it to be the best mask you've ever used.
