Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is a chemical compound which is a by-product of wood processing. It is a somewhat oily liquid that looks like mineral oil and has a slightly garlicky odor. It has long been used as a chemical solvent. In the late 1960s, it also became popular as a topical pain relief medication for pulled, strained, and sprained muscles and joints. As well as being a painkiller, DMSO is believe to be effective in treating acne, skin ulcers, herpes, and cataracts. DMSO has anti-inflammatory properties when applied to the skin. It can help ease the pain of muscle injuries due to sports and fitness activities. It may also ease pain associated with arthritis.

Comment: Only problem with this product is that it doesn't really tell you much about the company that manufacturers it. DMSO can be manufactured by companies who are not worried about toxic chemicals getting into the liquid during the manufacturing process, and since the FDA does not approve this as a food supplement (which I wish the FDA would) then there are no regulations or restrictions on the purity of the product. If the FDA approved it, then companies would sell it as a Food Supplement and also be required to meet certain manufacturing requirements and restrictions to guarantee purity of the product.
Therefore, I would be reluctant to buy this item from any company that I wasn't familiar with and who I trusted their products. Any company selling this product, should really provide a link to third-party lab test results showing proof that the purity of the item is tested on a regular basis by a lab to be 99.9%. Also tests should be done to confirm that no toxic chemicals are in the product, and again a link should be provided to the lab that did the testing.

Comment: my wife uses this product for joint and knee problems. its an amazing product. the only downside you get a sort of garlic breath when it permeates your skin. good stuff,highly recommended!!!DMSO Pure 99.7% Liquid 16oz.
