But his ruthless rival, Colonel Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef, High Noon), is determined to bring Indio in first...dead or alive! Failing to capture their preyor eliminate each otherthe two are left with only one option: team up, or face certain death atthe hands of Indio and his band of murderous outlaws.

Summary: van cleef steals the show
Comment: this movie goes down in history for many reasons, but mainly because Lee Van Cleef totally stole the show from Clint Eastwood. The way Van cleef played the character was so cool, with untouchable confidence. You never knew what to expect from him. One of the best scenes is when van cleef confronts Klaus Kinski(hunchback) in the bar and hardly a word is said but still he is very effective because of his presence. He is not just a tough guy but very smart also. This dvd is the european region 2 disc and surprisingly there is no extra footage like in the GBUgly disc. Harry Dean Stanton is in the TV opening footage with a guy whose face you don't see that is supposed to be Eastwood but is not. What a beautifully perfect film.

Summary: A brilliant film!
Comment: This is fantastic movie, a real epic tale of bounty hunters and their ruthless prey. The performances are outstanding and the film benefits hugely from a brilliant turn by Lee Van Cleef. Clint's on top form and the film is magnificent.

Summary: A Few Bodies More
Comment: One of Eastwood's and Leone's greatest movies. Realistic, symbollic and subtle, all at the same time. Eastwood as "Blondie" and Lee Van Cleef as Col. Mortimer [the Man in Black] are excellent in their mutual animosity and gruding cooperation. "Indio" is truly evil and fascinating in his unrepentant greed.

Summary: Best Western...
Comment: If Clint Eastwood didn't win an Academy award for this movie, he should have. This is a story about three men. All of whom are very, very greedy. Each one of them possesses their own set of rules regarding getting the "goods". This is an older movie that was first released in the 1960s (I was just a mere kid then). I remember it fondly because of its unforgettable musical score. I have that tune on my cell phone now. I remember that either the score or that particular cut won an award the following year. Anyway, if you like westerns, you'll love this one.
