Customer Rating: Summary: HAPPY WITH PRODUCT Comment: We bought this small generator to take on camping trips. We used it while camping for a week at Lowes Motor Speedway for the Bank of America 500. It worked great! I read the reviews before buying it and knew there might be a problem with the spark plug. So before taking it with us, we bought a spare spark plug and a good quality 2 cycle oil. We tested it in the driveway. It started on the 2nd pull. It seemed a little loud, but we could still hear each other talking without having to yell. While using it for the past week, it powered a 120w light, my laptop, a coffee maker, a radio and several chargers (for cell phones, batteries, ect..). The only time you could here it working hard was when the coffee maker, lap top, radio and 2 chargers were on at the same time. Just the laptop, light, radio, and 1 or 2 cell phone chargers would not make it work to hard. Plus it lasted 6-8 hours before running out of fuel, much longer than the 4 hours stated. Plus the noise was not bad at all, but we were near the road and there was a lot of traffic which masked the generator noise. It started up every time on the first or second pull. I did have two problems with it though: 1st, my husband had to start it for me. It is a little harder to pull the start cord than on a lawn mower. I wasn't strong enough to start it, but my husband had no trouble at all. 2nd, I broke the "grip" part of the knob that turns the gas on and off. I was turning it in the wrong direction and didn't realize it. The knob was stiff all week and hard to turn. I just thought it was stuck. Glad I paid an additional $20 for the warrenty. All in all, we are very satisfied with this purchase.
Customer Rating: Summary: Life saver Comment: Eastern Tools & Equipment TG1200 1,200 Watt 2 HP 2-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator (Non-CARB Compliant)R
Received this generator the day before Hurricane Ike came through. It started on the 1st pull, and after connecting each appliance in sequence, about 5 minutes apart, was able to run the TV, refrigerator, and freezer with no problems
Even running all appliances at same time, only used about a gallon of gas per 6 hour period.
Well worth the price.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very impressed Comment: Let me say first of all that I just got this generator yesterday. Delivery was VERY fast I had no problems. I ordered the generator on Sunday night about 9pm and had it just after noon on Tuesday. Some of the reviews on here said that the generator came damaged but mine showed up in mint condition.
The generator seems very well built, nothing that screams cheap plastic that wont last. I followed the instructions on starting it for the first time and on about the 9th or 10th pull of the cord it fired up and ran great. After allowing it to run for a few minutes I got out my shop-vac and hooked it up, it ran the shop-vac with no problems.
I bought this generator for tailgating at THE Ohio State University and we will use it for the first time this weekend so I will follow up these initial impressions with more information after that.
For $129 and free shipping I dont think you can beat this deal.
Follow-up: We used the generator on Saturday for the Ohio State game. It fulfilled all of our expectations. It easily ran a 32 inch LCD TV and satellite receiver for 5 hours before the game and the entire game with only one refill of the gas tank (it wasnt completely full to begin with either). We put the generator at the front of my truck and watched TV on the tailgate and forgot the generator was even running. The sound is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
Great generator for the price!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good for the money Comment: I have had a similar experience to many of the other reviewers. No damage on receipt, but it was difficult to get it started the first time. The engine does not a one of those little primer bulbs on the carburator to prime it with gas. As a result, the first time you put gas in it and try to start it requires a lot of tugging on the starter rope. Once I got it started, it started fairly easy after that. I tried it the next day and it started right up. I have not ran it for and extented period yet, but it seems to do the job. For the price you can't go wrong.
Customer Rating: Summary: Frustrating Comment: Well, there goes my money. This product is very frustrating, especially just trying to start it up. You will wear yourself out. Certainly would not recommend this product to anyone, well maybe my worst enemy.
