I can say that the Artic has a better design
also it had a good shaver performance
I am sure is quite better but how much better...?

also this time I get the 1050 with out a display
the display raeally doestn improve the shaver and I feel is not worty the extra $50 when the shaver system is the same

    Summary: Perfect Shave!
Comment: The manufacturer recommends waiting 21 days before deciding on whether or not to keep the product but I decided after the first use that this was the razor for me. I think they just say that for people who are not used to electric razors but I have been using one for years so it wasn't a problem. My old electric razor was a Remington titanium R 9710 and I decided that it was time for an upgrade. I never had good luck with my Remington because it would cut my skin when I would try to get it a little closer and it ripped at my hair rather than giving it a nice clean cut. I know it wasn't a problem with the blades being old and dull because it did that when I first got it. This Norelco Arcitec, however, allowed me to push the razor hard against my skin without any irritation. It cut the hair rather than ripping it out, and it doesn't feel like a chore to shave my face anymore.

My old Remington has a trimmer that pops up when you slide the switch with your thumb, but it doesn't cut any hair and it seems useless. The Arcitec has a tube trimmer that slides in and out of the razor with a switch. Although it is a little small, it actually cuts hair! People have complained about this trimmer being too hard to use because the shaving heads get in the way and cuts their hair. The shaving heads come off and it makes it quite easy to use.

Like I said before, the razor does not rip my hair out and it leaves a nice shave with very minimal, if any, razor burn. The blades are not float type blades, but the individual blades "rock" up and down to follow the contour of your face. The blade mechanism also pivots to provide a closer shave all over. This razor is especially comfortable on my neck and it doesn't leave any skin irritation, unlike my old razor. I could never get close enough to cut the hair on my neck without cutting my skin, and this razor causes me no problems.

When it comes to cleaning this unit, the three heads open up and all you have to do is run water over it to remove the hair. I thought this was great that I didn't have to disassemble the head unit to clean it. I'm used to opening up the top part of the razor, turning a screw type lock, taking out the blade holder, and then unscrewing the blade covers to clean it. Then, after it was clean, I had to reverse the process to put it back together. Even though it really didn't take that much time out of my day, it was irritating to go through that process just to clean it. It did use a larger head unit so it collected the hair, but that just meant that I had to spend more time cleaning the unit. With the Arcitec, I simply open up each head, run it under running water, and then close it back up. I usually don't close mine up until it's dry, but it won't hurt it if you decide to close it right after cleaning it. It doesn't have a hair collection chamber so it is recommended that you clean it after each use, but it really only takes seconds to do this so I don't see how people would complain about this feature.

The only problem I see with this is that there is no way to plug the razor into the wall if it does happen to die when you are shaving. It does have a three minute charge for one shave so it doesn't take long, but some people just prefer that option to plug it in while they are shaving. It comes with a charging stand that works really well. You simply place the bottom of the razor in the stand and set it in place; there is no force required to place it in. It also comes with a travel case that has the ability to charge the razor, and it seems like it can protect your razor through just about anything. If you are traveling with this razor, it does take up more space than most. There is no space for the cord in the travel case, and it is bigger than most plugs because there is a transformer in it.

I have not tried any Braun razors so I don't know how Norelco compares, but I know that this one is definitely worth a try. I was a little hesitant to spend around $150 for an electric razor, but I have come to realize that you do get what you pay for (in most cases). If you are the type of person that wants something like this but you aren't sure if you want to spend that much, just try it out and see what you think. You might be amazed at how comfortable this razor makes your face feel. If you don't like it after the recommended 21 days, simply return it and get something else.

    Summary: Norelco Arcitec 1050 Shaver
Comment: The razor itself shaves very close and leaves a comfortable feeling on the face. The included travel case protects the shaver very well. Just now using the charging stand for use when I (Lane) am at home and not on the road. Only two minor complaints: 1) The trimmer is not very user friendly compared to other Norelco shaver trimmers. You can't see where it is going to be trimming when using it. It's almost like they made it as an after-thought. 2) Charging electronics are not built into razor or charging stand/travel case. Must use charging power supply that you have to carry with you. I prefer the old, traditional coiled 2-wire cord system like my previous shavers had! Overall, though, it is a dynamite shaver and works as advertised!!!!!!!

Summary: A Sorry Excuse for a Norelco
    Comment:

It's one of the coolest electric razors I've seen. I bought the 1050CC. I couldn't wait to get this one. I love Norelco's products. I bought this shaver and tried it for a couple of weeks and found it delivers a really harsh uncomfortable shave with lots of razor burn which I never got from my other Norelco. I think one reason for the harsh shave is that it doesn't have the floating heads anymore that easily give to the contours of your face, this seems to plow into curves instead and you also don't get the range of pivoting that the previous models have (I noticed this didn't surround my Adams Apple like my 9170XL does it sits flat on it). It gives a decent shave but not a great shave like I was hoping and you have to go over areas many times. I think who ever designed this razor just went for how sleek and cool they could make it look and the function came second. You can get as good of shave with a 9170XL SpeedXL which has the same cutting head technology and gain the comfort and save $120. It just won't look as cool on your counter. Sorry Norelco but when I spend $200 dollars I just don't want something that looks good I want it improved too. I talked to the Corp. office, in regard to this. Their Demanor was
"it is the finest razor we have ever made". VERY UNTRUE.
I have used Norelco for many years, ( I am 71) This is the WORST razor I have ever owned. Bar None

Comment: I have used electric shavers for many years. It seemed that the design of this product should yield a better shave than traditional designs but it did not
