Customer Rating: Summary: very nice Comment: i was reviewing this item befor buying it, and i totaly disagree that its loud. and i dont think it uses alot of ink at all. you can set the setting on economy print and it will stil prit with nice quality. and as far as making noce, its much nicer and quieter than my ex dell one. haha. i thought that when people mentioned that it was loud i pictured my dell. well i think its fairly quiet, i mean do people actualy expect printer not to make noice. Also for a small home printer it prints very quick. over all im verry happy with it, it looks good, sounds good, prints good. the only thing i think it could do better is scan faster. but is all good!!! thanks :)
Customer Rating: Summary: Beware! HP DeskJet 4100 Series Software & Windows Vista conflicts Comment: I purchased the HP Deskjet F4180 when it first came on the market. For several months, it worked fine-no problems. Recently, I noticed that the Imaging Monitor was missing from the taskbar. When I tried to scan a document the HP Solution Center program did not work. I kept getting an error message: "No HP Devices have been detected. HP Solution Center will close now." I emailed HP Customer Support and the next day they replied with a five-step solution which they believed would solve the error message problem. After four hours and following the five-step instructions provided, I could not get the HP software to load properly. It should not take this much work to get a printer to operate properly. Perform a Google search (on the error message, above) and you'll see the various issues surrounding the HP F4100 series software and Windows Vista OS. Apparently, there is a serious conflict with the Windows Vista OS and the HP Deskjet F4100 series device software which makes the scanner portion of the F4180 to become inoperative. I could print, but could not scan any documents. Look elsewhere for an All-In-One printer/scanner/copier without the hassles inherent in this HP model. I tossed the HP Deskjet F4180 out the window and bought an Epson AIO.
Customer Rating: Summary: Quick install, compact size, good enough quality for daily HH printing Comment: It took me less than 10 minutes to hook it up and get it working. I like the compact size. I am not sure how long the Inkcartridge is going to last though.
Customer Rating: Summary: HP Deskjet F4180 Comment: Good printer/scanner/copier for the money. It was easy to set up. I bought 2, one had a defective ink cartridge that I had to replace, but overall I'm satisfied with them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Small Ink cartridge Comment: I recently upgraded from hp 3745 to this one obviously because of it's copying and scanning capability. And indeed I like the multifunctions. What I don't like about this printer is the small capacity of its ink cartridges (about 5ml for black according the hp salesman). My former printer loads 10ml of ink for black. I can't figure out why they reduced the ink volume for this one. I makes me wonder though, the unit is cheap but will cause you to buy a greater number of replacement cartridge which if you sum it up costs a lot more than the printer itself.
