Customer Rating: Summary: Still a lot of Fresh Ideas at Disney Comment: With animated movies geared towards children it's real easy to fall into a rut. Be honest, don't most of the movies you see (animated), follow a same very basic plot. Even Disney as great as they are has repackaged the princess movie so many times if you've seen one, you've probably seen them all. It's just with Disney they do it so well, who cares.
But with Meet the Robinsons this is not some re-hash of some old idea. This one actually is orginal, and it's told very well.
I really liked this movie. I didn't come in with high hopes after watching Valient and Chicken Little, but I was surprised and happy to see Disney do a GREAT job telling a new and unique story.
The main characters are developed, and your children won't see the twist coming the first time they watch it. The music is great, especially Rob Thomas.
And the Bowler Hat Guy, is so different as the bad-guy I don't think Disney has ever done one like it. HE kind of reminds me of a male Cruella DeVille.
The gags with the hat are funny, especially with the T-rex.
This is a good movie, and unfortunately it will join the club of other pretty good movies that Disney has made that have been forgotten, mainly because they don't have that one song that everybody loves, or that one character that everybody thinks is adorable or pathetic, or whatever it is that draws people to some of these characters.
I say give it 10 years and nobody will remember this movie. Not because it was a bad movie, in fact it's a very good movie. It will be forgotten because I think for whatever reason the masses just aren't interested. And that's a shame. Get this movie and watch it with the family you won't regret it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Highly underrated Comment: Great little movie. I'm surprised it didn't get better reviews. Kids and adults liked it. Check it out, good addition to your movie library.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not very enjoyable for adults Comment: I suppose this is a good one for the kids 10 and under but for adults it is barley bearable. I enjoyed Monster House and Ratatoie much more than this one.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fantastic Family Movie Comment: I bought this movie on a whim and wasn't really looking for it being very good due to the trailers I'd seen. It just looked strange and plotless from the impression I got from the trailer. I was very pleasantly surprised when I watch this movie! The music is great, Danny Elfman does a great job and brings out a lot of emotion with the music, but this story isn't music dependent it just adds to it, like it should. The visuals are incredible, we've come a long way in this CGI world and in Blu-Ray this does become a world in itself especially in the future scenes , and the main plot is heartwarming. I tell everyone that this is my new favorite movie.
The Robinson family is eccentric yes, and maybe a little unbelievable, but hey, this is fiction! Only in this movie can a wife be just a puppet some how come off as understandable and there are some who may not be able to handle the zaniness, but just sit back and enjoy the ride. Not everything in life has to be so serious all the time and completely based in reality. Some people have mentioned thinking that young kids won't like this movie, but that is totally incorrect! My four children are 6, 4, 3, and 1 they want to watch this movie at least once a week. Maybe they don't get the whole plot, but they enjoy the adventure and just take it for what it is. I love all of the main characters, even the bad guy is one of the most enjoyable I've seen in a long time. He's stupidly funny that makes the kids laugh and not be scared of him, but still know he's not a good guy either.
The plot about Louis not having a family is touching. I think that the movie really lets you feel and know what it's like to be a little boy without a mom or dad. I loved how it showed that family is really an important thing in people's lives in general and even seemingly crazy and chaotic families can still be loving and have a lot to offer. There was also a message about personal responsibility that really hit home too. It's just a short little statement, but it said so much. Basically the point was sometimes bad things happen to you caused by other people, but you're responsible for what and how you react to that problem, you can chose to let it fester and turn you into an angry, bitter person or you can choose to let it go... and keep moving forward.
I really appreciated the theme of "Keep Moving Forward" I think a lot of people struggle with their failures, but just like Thomas Edison making the lightblub, through our failures we still learn and learn what NOT to do which is sometimes just as important. I think of this phrase a lot in my own personal life when something comes to a failure. Never thought that I'd get all of this from a kids movie from Disney.
I've been very disappointed with Disney for a long time minus the Pixar movies. This was a new and fresh offering from Disney in a very, very long time. I wish they would have sold this movie for what it actually offers you in the trailers. I guess reviews of movies help you find hidden treasures like this one. I am glad I took a gamble on getting this for my kids. This has way more to offer than you'd ever expect... and maybe even a tear or two at the end, if you're like me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun, Funny, & Fantastic! Comment: I LOVE this movie. I don't often purchase DVDs, I rented this from Blockbuster b/c my wife likes animated films and I probably heard something on the news about it. I know I don't remember this getting much advertisement. I bought this DVD because it's awesome. I can't believe how many deprived people in this world haven't seen this awesome film. Lots of laughs, fun, and legitimate family values points. No romance!!! The kid isn't trying to hook up with some Disney-fied beauty queen, he wants a family. Works out pretty well, plus I'm a sci-fi fan. Highly recommended.
