Summary: Quickly becoming one of my favorites
Comment: Karas: The Prophecy
In the city of Tokyo, demons exist. Some people believe in them but others are in denial. The original Karas named Lord Eko, used to defend the city from the evil demons. Suddenly he stopped and now seeks to rule the city. Another Karas was sent to stop him and was killed. A new Karas named Otoha, has finally been born and took up the mantle as protector. Also an investigator named Sagisaki also wants to prove that demons do exist to solve several mass murder cases.

The animation and fight scenes is what sell this series. 2D and 3D animation is blended in very well and as a result, the fight scenes are spectacular. The battles are just soaked with style and I didn't detect the slightest amount of re used cells. This was a well used budget concerning the visuals and sound.

Alot of people complain that the story is very hard to follow. And they are right as long as they never watch it with Japanese language and subtitles. Believe me, it makes a huge difference. But I'm not going to take anything away from the english cast because they do a wonderful job.

The story is interesting to include the plot. The demons battle in metallic bodies with some nice abilites. Karas uses a sword in battle and can also morph into a fighter jet and an armored car. The battles involving these vehicles are a sight to see.

The first movie ends on a big cliffhanger and thankfully the second volume is included with this set. It sucked for guys like me who waited 2 years for the second chapter. But the second chapter was worth the wait.

Karas: The Revelation
Lord Eko is very close to fulfilling his goal. After a huge setback and the city in panic. Karas must step up, ignore his wounds and try to end this battle for good.

This is a very good continuation. All questions are answered in this movie. There is a good amount of backstory given and characters are well used.

The fight scenes are still very good and the final battle was not a disappointment to me. The animation was kind of a step down but was still eye candy.

This is a short series that gets better with repeated watches. I really did enjoy the breaking of tradition here. Normally, a superhero would overcome this obstacle and realize some people are good. The idea of a hero finally losing patience with all the people of the city is pretty deep(even though this isn't all his beef). Lord Eko to me, is a believable character and is very close to being human. This realism here, is enough for me to consider Karas one of my favorites now.

I recommend this two parter to anime fans and also advise to watch it with japanese language. This way you can fully understand on the first shot what's going on. The imaginative fight scenes will satisfy most action junkies. The movies do get a bit slow at times but I think it's worth the trip.

Summary: excellent anime
Comment: two-part anime. complicated storyline that reveals itself in small bits over the course of the movie. this makes for excellent second and third + viewing. graphics are excellent; music is some of the best i've ever heard in a movie. fight sequences are fast-paced and very well done. you won't regret watching this one!

Summary: Above average, but not quite top notch.
Comment: This anime has very good visuals (both CGI and traditional styles are used.)
All of the fight scenes are amazing, and the robotic demons do not necessarily disappoint(I would have preferred to have seen humanoid demons rather than robotic ones.)The only real issue that I had with this anime was the lack of a good ending and a bit of confusion about what exactly the point of the story is at times. Still, I recommend this to any anime fan.

Summary: Not your typical anime
Comment: I'm a big fan of full 3d movies (Final Fantasy, Beowulf, etc.) as well as the 2d (Ghost in the Shell, Bleach, DBZ). True this is a "hybrid" using 2d and 3d; weighing heavier on the 2d. I wasn't expecting much as I caught The Prophecy on Starz one night. I actually ended up buying the series before the movie ended. The artistry with the combination of 2d and 3d moving images is worth the watch. I've seen some of this combo with other movies of this type (Animatrix) but it just isn't the same. It took me a few replays to completely understand the plot (and a little wiki action). All in all I definetely recommend checking it out.
