Summary: Refreshing
Comment: After all "new" albums of recycled Flying Burrito Brothers material, this is a real treat! The Burritos sound great live, a little ragged, but that is some of their charm--the beginnings of alt-country at its best. The mix is excellent and Gram's breaking vocals come across better here than on some of their studio albums. It is easy to pick out Chris Hillman's harmonies as well. A great sound from a band like no other. The material on this CD is a rare find.

Summary: Live at the Avalon Ballroom
Comment: When I heard that these two live shows were being produced, I was ecstatic. These performances have been hidden away for nearly 30 years! I became a fan of Gram after he passed away so I never thought I would experience the feeling of being in the audience during a live show. These two CDs take you back to 1969, when Gram was a mere 23 years old. The quality is not that of today's live performances and its apparent that the FBBs were young and not as polished as they became with more experience. However, these are amazing CDs for fans of Gram and the Flying Burrito Bros. To the people responsible for getting these out, THANK YOU! You'll feel like you were there at the Avalon Ballroom in 1969...

Summary: Honky Tonkin with the Flying Burritos
Comment: Live at the Avalon Ballroom,1969,San Francisco, this makes for very interesting recording, hearing mostly the vocals standing out in front with Sneaky Pete and the band in the background which is right on the money especially with country music,so many times you hear a band in a nightclub and the band drowns out the vocals, but not in this case as you hear Parsons and Chris Hillman's harmonies clear as a bell as they wail on,Sin City or Dark End Of The Street, many people were complaining about the sound, but I'd say we're lucky to even hear this classic recording, and it isn't that bad for a nightclub recording consisting of maybe fifty people in the audience at the most, remember Parsons and the Burritos were virtually unknown at the time and if you want to hear a crappy recording listen to Ihe Beatles,Hamburg,Germany compilations, nothing but pure distortion,if there was one complaint about this Amoeba two disc cd,which consist of two different shows, the biggest complaint is the packaging, good lord !,I thought I was going have to use plyers just to pull the disc out, unbelievable, hopefully vol. 2 won't be the same, overall this piece of archives in music history is a must.

Summary: The Dead's set probably doesn't sound like this.
Comment: Maybe if they have a "Gram Parsons Archive Vol. 2", they'll mix the freakin' guitars up.

Comment: The sound quality on this one flat out sucks. After reading all of the great reviews and then listening to it, I am so unhappy that I wasted any money on this one.
